Yep, you read that right. Christmas decorations that are actually cheap {or even free}! I know that most people feel this way, but man- doesn’t the Holiday season just feel like every time you turn around you are dishing out money for something? A gift, a party, a dinner? This year I made it a big goal to not spend a ton of money on new decorations. I really wanted to try and use what we already had, and maybe get a few new but cheap items to add in. Thankfully, I can say we were successful at doing just that! Here is our dining room and family room with our fun yet cheap decorations!
For the family room we kept it light and simple with classic red bows and Poinsettia from Home Depot. My favorite part in this room was the free tree trimmings. Did you know that in the Home Depot tree lot they have bins of trimmings that are free to take?! I love it. I used them on the ledge, and added vintage red and gold ornaments to add a pop of color.
I also used those same gold and red vintage balls {vintage balls..ha! I know, I know- i’m so mature} in the Ship we have. These decorations were all bought at an estate sale years ago. Estate sales are an amazing way to get holiday decorations for cheap. And if you are at an awesome sale you usually end up scoring some really unique vintage decorations that are totally different than what is sold nowadays. One of my acquaintances also suggested that I shop for Christmas decorations online because new collections appear to arrive online more quickly than in stores. She told me about how people made Bobbleheads From Your Photos and I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s done.
Then in the Dining Room I brought back out my most favorite estate sale find ever- these brass reindeer. I bought these at a sale SIX years ago and they are still one of my most favorite finds ever- so that says a lot! I also used a beautiful hand stitched table runner that I got at that same sale. I love thinking about how much time, effort, and detail went in to this piece. The candles are a mish-mash from Target and other random places I cant remember. And of course the super easy DIY christmas garland I made a few weeks back is hanging on our DIY driftwood art.
I also held true to my intention of changing out the holiday decor in the World Market lamps. They now have these adorable simple trees in them, surrounded by red berries, and I love it!
And thats that! Have you decorated for Christmas on the cheap this year, or did you go all out? I would love to know any tips of yours!!
