Do any of y’all have a piece of furniture in your home that you know isn’t that cute, doesn’t really fit in, etc.-but yet you still love it??
Mine is my GMA’s lime green chair.

All through growing up my GMA lived with me. She was my absolute best friend. She moved in with my parents two months after they got married, and lived for another 23 years. This chair used to be in her room at my parents house. She would sit in it everyday and read, crochet, or paint her nails. She said that it was by far her most favorite color in the world and the most comfortable chair as well! Now, i’m not gonna lie, the chair is pretty darn comfortable, but I don’t know so much about it being the best color!!
The chair is now in our home, in our office. We call the office the “green room” because well, the walls are green, the chair is green, and the paintings have a lot of green in them:) We don’t really think the chair goes great with the room, BUT I don’t care. This chair has so much sentimental value to me that I love it no matter what!
Do you have a piece like this? Not too good looking, but so special that it doesn’t matter? I only wish that I could have my GMA come on over and sit in it just one more time…

I actually love your GMA’s old chair. It looks super comfy.
I have two pieces of furniture that I’ll probably never get rid of. One is a rocker that I remember being in my mom’s bedroom as a child. She let me have it when I moved away. It used to be a light green color, but I painted it white. The other piece of furniture is a very heavy, very old dresser that belonged to an elderly cousin, who is no longer living. It needs a fresh coat of paint as well, but I still will probably never part with it.

Athena,
I do love the chair too, for many reasons, it just is hard finding a place that a lime green chair works in our home:) I love the pieces you have. Did you feel weird or totally ok about painting the chair, because of memories and all?

Adrianne,
I actually didn’t feel weird at all about painting the chair or dresser. The pieces for me hold the memories, not the color of them. That’s how I see it anyway. 🙂

I have an old rocking chair that belonged to my late ex- mother-in-law! The chair had been in a bedroom in her home and I love it because it’s just the right size for me and is very comfortable. Only the back and the seat are upholstered; the rest is wood. My ex-DH had no interest in it, so it’s all mine!

That chair is AWESOME~ My Gma had a leisure suit in the EXACT same fabric. She also hadd a chair very similar, but it was cherry red…. oh how I wish I could have that now… I miss her.
