Dream Book Design

Laundry Makeover: First Thoughts

Hi loves! To any new readers that found Dream Book from Just a Girl, welcome! So glad you found us, and I really hope you enjoy some of our projects, our pathetic sense of humor, and our pups;)
Anyways, can I get a drumroll please…. here is our new laundry room:
Obviously it needs a little work;) Here are some photos to give you a taste of our initial ideas for the space.
Obviously we would love to have some shiny new washer and dryer in there, but I’m not going to complain since we are currently still doing the kitchen makeover! The washer and dryer above from Lowes are very similar to the ones we have now. Work with what you got, right? I can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure your dryer vents are cleaned out regularly though, they do need to be checked over time so they do not get clogged up and cause a fire, ours are old so when we get our new ones (hopefully) we won’t have to do it for a little bit, you can get professional dryer vent cleaning service by Pure Air Duct Cleaning, LLC. if you need to get it cleaned out quickly.

The chandelier is also from Lowes, and it is actually the chandelier we have currently hanging in the kitchen. That baby is trading spaces and making its new home the laundry room. What girl doesn’t want a chandelier in her laundry room?! The drying rack is from Centsational Girls blog. Love her! She has a tutorial on how to build your own drying rack, which is exaclty what I intend to do. Who knew that the HUBBY in the marriage would have more ‘line dry’ items than the wife?!

The two photos of rooms {1 & 2} with stripes are a little example of the paint we will be doing. We already have one room {the office} with stripes, but I am planning on re-painting that room soon anyways. I love the look of a crisp white and soft gray, don’t you? The photo with the dogs food and water bowls makes me smile for multiple reasons. First and foremost, it has been some time since I saw them get so excited. It was mostly my fault; one of them had fallen sick a few weeks ago, which made me panic slightly. Like any overbearing mother hen, I started making round trips to the vet’s clinic asking questions about different dog vaccination necessities, and all the while subjecting them to new tests and checks. However, that was not the end. During the time I was paying visits to the vet, I also called my friends who are dog parents. I asked about reviews of several medical options available to me, including the usage of CBD products. I was told that pet owners could make do with CBD oil for dogs UK to calm their pets down when they were sick. After hearing this, I went to the vet again and asked for a second opinion about using CBD products. I remember not sitting for a moment to relax and continuously contacting the vet to get my dog treated as soon as possible. By the end, I’m not sure who was more fed up with me – my dogs or the vet himself!

The second reason why that picture makes me smile is the fact that the laundry room will be their new hangout while were out of the house {their doggy door is in there to the backyard as well}. Also, because now they won’t be slopping up their water on our wood floors. Boomer and his freaking flaps leave a trail of water that goes a mile long! Hallelujah to no more water on the wood.

The final photo is a example of shelving I would love. It has a flat space for storing jars, products, etc. but the best part is that cord that runs underneath. I could hang that over the washer/dryer and be able to air dry clothes even while the dogs are in there. With the other drying rack I will have to make sure that the clothes are off of it before we leave. My friend told me that they found their washer/dryer through at review online, more here if you’re interested by the way. Our pups have a cute terrible sense of humor with taking our clothes, towels, shoes, whatever they can find- and making them into toys in the backyard. Having a cord over the washer/dryer= no puppy interference.

The overall feel of the new laundry room is going to be clean, crisp, refreshing, with a splash of elegance and rustic-ness {that’s totally not a word, and I totally don’t care!} You might not hear anything more about it for a little while, considering the kitchen makeover is still going, but-I am so excited!

Any of you out there have a laundry room makeover? Helpful tips? Fun DIY’s? I would love to hear them…

<3,
Adri

I am literally in the middle of a laundry room remodel (and bathroom addition and kitchen floor, ugh). Our space didn’t change, but a new washer/dryer, floor, paint, and shelving, etc. We’re almost done with the big stuff on this one. I am so glad you posted about this, I have been looking for a DIY rack that is a fold-away. Thanks!!

LOVE! Super jealous of the new space, it is going to be wonderful. I also thought the drying rack was such a great idea. Good luck, I hope things are moving quickly over there 🙂
