4th of July Cake And Birthday

Some people have store bought cakes for their birthdays, some people have cakes made by family or friends…I make my own! Now don’t get me wrong, both of my mamas were ready and willing to make me a cake, but I was dying to try and make the flag cake I talked about last week. Here are some of the results:

Yes, my kitchen is always that much of a cluster when I bake, always.

This photo cracks me up. So in the recipe it calls for you to use a 4in. circle of some sort, preferably a cookie cutter. I don’t own a 4in. cookie cutter. I do however own a glass vase-like thing that is almost exactly 4in. So we improvised by using the vase as my cookie cutter:) By the way, it worked like a charm!

Please ignore the fact that the strawberries have melted a little into the cream cheese frosting. When you live 25 minutes away from where your dinner is, and its 112 degrees out, things melt on car rides. Bummer!

Pretty sure this is my most favorite picture of the night. Some people at the dinner didn’t know what was special about the cake {other than the fact that it was made by a professional..me..duh}. Their reactions were priceless!

J had a great idea to use star sprinkles in the blue batter so its even more accurate for next time! Dont worry, we did things other than eat that day:)

I promise he likes me:)

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! Check back this week for a new project and tutorial being posted!

great looking cake! I think your family will talk about it for a while. I have the same problem with strawberries also, they leak. If I put my laptop next to my work space I would kill it for sure. Looking forward to your next project! Ann

Haha I made that cake too! Turned out great and stroked my ego since everyone wanted a slice. You could see on their faces that they felt more and more patriotic with every bite 🙂
