Thanksgiving Recap: Hosting 25 People!

So you know those amazingly talented bloggers that did a recap of Thanksgiving that Friday, and then immediately had Christmas crafts going after {or some even before Thanksgiving}?  Yeah, clearly I am not one of them:)  Because we always host Thanksgiving, I refuse to put up Christmas decor before Thanksgiving is over.  And because its such a {fun} ordeal hosting it, I am usually a little burnt out on decorating for a week…so there you have it- a Thanksgiving recap a week later.  With Christmas crafts to come, I wanted to share with y’all just how it all turned out!

\You see- this is what the living room looked like at about 11pm the night before Thanksgiving.  We were working in to the night to get the cabinets installed in the built-ins, everything caulked and painted, and then to finally clean up and set up the table!  It was definitely down to the wire, but exciting at the same time.  We also were borrowing an extra table from my sister, so even if we had time {which we didnt because called it quits at about 1am} to set up the table the night before, we couldn’t till about 30 minutes before everyone arrived {when they brought it to us!}.

Thankfully, we are both determined people, especially when it comes to hosting things here, so we made it happen!  I prepped as much food as I could the day before, and I was only in charge of the turkey, sweet potatoes, and gravy this year which helped. We used the burlap table cloth I made two years ago for Thanksgiving, as well as the wooden boards, and silverware napkin rings.  We kept everything else super simple in the hopes of keeping the stress levels down!

We got to finally use our bar cart we re finished a few years back.  We eventually put the coffee and pies on it as the night went on, and loved it!

We also added a little Fall flair to the shelves, keeping it very simple since we only put it up the day of {thats when the paint was finished!}:

The best part of all of this though is not the tablescape, or the decor, or even the fun chairs…its this, right here:

And the fact that these two goobers were the head of the table made it all even better.  Watching them eat together was just about the cutest {and messiest} thing I have ever seen:

We are so glad that we have the honor of hosting this each year, and I am so excited that next year the room will already have been finished instead of working in to the night:)

We love you all and are constantly so thankful for the support you give us on this blog.

[…] Last year my hot hubby Jeremy and I stayed up till 2 am the night before Thanksgiving in order to finish building our new DIY fireplace mantel and built-ins. We hosted the dinner in that room and we wanted it to be perfect. Best choice of timing? Probably not, but we do love a good deadline to make us work hard. […]
