DIY Kids Farmhouse Table

Do you realize it has been roughly three months since Christmas?  It has, and that is funny to me since I am just now getting around to showing y’all the most perfect gift “santa” made for Bray!  J spent a few hours building the most adorable little DIY kids farmhouse table, and I am still as obsessed with it now as day one!!

We wanted a kids table for Bray that didn’t scream kids table, since for the time being it was going to be placed in our dining room.  It needed to be functional for him, but hopefully not an eye sore, and thats exactly what J built!  Our dining room table is a farmhouse style as well, so we thought it would be cute to make a mini version of it.

  • For the top of it we used the remnants that were left from our drafting table.  We made really good use of that drafting table, using the base for a dining room table, and dividing the top between this kids table and the top to a bar cart {i’ll show more on that another time}.
  • The legs were purchased at Lowes.  To make them super sturdy we used dowels and wood glue to hold them in place.
  • We also added an apron to it, mainly because we wanted to add a paper roll underneath the table {to pull on top for coloring} and we wanted to hide it.  The apron was then screwed in to the sides of the legs.

Bray has loved using it since Christmas.  The table is either covered in scribbles, book, cars, or Legos…but its safe to say that it is ‘his zone’. I love that if were not using it for coloring we can simple roll up the paper underneath.  We also plan to attach some velcros and straps so that I can attach a lego board to it as well!

We are also totally in love with the mini chairs we got for the table.  We got them on eBay and they are mini Krueger.  I giggle seeing our big chairs at the dining table, and his little minis at his:

Did you guys get anything/give anything for Christmas that you still are swooning over?
