You guys, we finally have a coffee table for our living room!! A miners cart coffee table to be exact. Doesn’t it look lovely? I would like to make sure that it is protected though, so when we have people around I may put on one of those grey wipe clean tablecloths or something with a rustic design, so it looks the part but I’m not cleaning off coffee rings!
This room is finally coming together more and more and I am so glad. Yes, we still have nothing on the walls, but thats the great trick of wainscoting. It makes completely empty walls feel not so empty until we find the perfect things for them:) But as for the coffee table, it is a perfect fit.
We found this one on Craigslist forever ago and it has sat in our backyard until we {jeremy} had time to work on it. It was in seriously rough shape, but cleaned up pretty well. Jeremy really wanted to be able to tear the whole thing apart and turn over the boards, since the wood underneath is beautiful and in great condition. Unfortunately, the bolts and screws are so rusted that there was no getting them out, hence no flipping of boards. The wood on the top is definitely been well loved by life, but I still love the look. Jeremy sanded it down really well, and then to speak professionally- he sealed the crap out of it. I wanted to make sure that every inch was covered, so J practically poured on the sealer and brushed it out.
The height is the perfect for resting your feet while sitting on the couch. Technically that would be considered rude, but not in our home! I never want to own anything that is too fragile to stand up against our family’s use. And yes, we do realize those corners are a little risky with having a kid in the home, but I am not worried about Bray with them. Once the new babe gets here and is unstable on his feet, we will figure something out:)
It makes me so happy that we now have a miners cart in the home again, since we parted ways with our old one:
Man I kinda miss that brick wall too, do you? Its funny how much changes for us home-to-home. Decor items, color schemes, furniture, etc. But a fresh start is always nice!
