We found out we were pregnant on September 10th, and wanted to tell our families that very day! But me being the dramatic person I am really wanted to be able to tell all of them in person! Our Arizona Republic was originally supposed to come out that next Saturday, which was perfect because that could be our excuse as to why both families needed to come over for dinner. You see, certain members of the family knew we were trying to start a family, and if we just invited them over for dinner ‘just because’ they would have totally known. So glad we had that excuse! Now I just had to keep it a secret for a week..rough!
Unfortunately my sister and her hubby couldn’t come to dinner, so I told her the Friday before by making her a cute little onesie:
Up next was telling everyone. I wanted to tell them in a ‘creative’ way, so I thought that I had a pretty good plan. Since we are hosting Thanksgiving this year, I thought perfect I will make them placemats with their ‘new names’ on them. Not mom, dad, etc, instead it was GMA, GPA, grandma, grandpa. I simply cut out burlap and used my handy little stencils:
Holding their placemats proudly, that is after they finally got it what they meant!
Now the ridiculous part of the night was when it came to actually telling them. For some reason I was so nervous, as in totally shaky hands and voice nervous. Once everyone took their place to eat dinner I walked up and told them about the placemats for Thanksgiving, and asked their opinions. Well, no one got it! Not one of them! It took me and J staring at each other for awhile, and me finally saying “really, NO ONE gets it?!” and then the reactions came! J was awesome and sneaky and set up our camera minutes before everyone sat down, so we caught it all on camera {my moms reaction is priceless}:
We were so excited to be able to tell them and have the support from them. Our families are so incredible and have already been amazing throughout the journey so far!! Love you family:) So, did you use a fun and creative way to tell your family when you found out? Or could you just not hold it in and told the second you saw the positive test?!

Congrats!! Babies are awesome!
I’m on my 4th and my mom has a tattoo of bees and butterflies for her grandchildren that she just got, so I sent her a business card for the tattoo parlor with the appt day (my due date) on it. It took her a few minutes to realize, but loved how I announced it to her!

Congrats guys!!! That was so funny! I did get a little teary eyed after seeing your mom’s reaction. Probably because I just had my third a few weeks ago, and I still have all those crazy hormones. Thanks for sharing that with all of us!

Congrats! Your mom’s reaction is priceless and so beautiful. I enjoyed watching you try to tell your family. I remember when we were pregnant with our first and I bought a book that was about Grandparents for my Mom and Dad as a Christmas gift. They were already grandparents, so when my husband and I called them to open the gift they had the same nonchalant reaction as your family. So I completely relate! Congrats again on your blessing. Babies and children are truly a miracle of God.
