We did a lot of work in here! We {or I should say J} replaced the flooring, added bead-board to the walls, installed a new vanity, subway tiled the shower, incorporated something like this panasonic bathroom fan, and obviously freshened everything up with a fresh coat of paint. Even after these small renovations, I already love the difference it has made in here.
We still have a long way to go, but from what I can see already, I know the end result will definitely be worth the wait. I’ve already started looking into articles like The Best TOTO Toilets of 2019, so we have an idea of what toilet we might like for the bathroom. I just can’t wait for everything to be complete. The tiling of the floor and shower simply make me smile:) I think I get even more pleasure from the tiles because we did such a great job ourselves. Of course, we got some tips from Tilers Place but we did that! It looks great! One of the best surprises in our house was in the bathroom. The wall to the right when you walk in seemed like a waste of space to us, so we wanted to tear the wall down and build shelving. When we got the initial layers of the wall down we found a GREAT surprise! There was already a huge pantry style cabinet in there! It was seriously dirty but in amazing condition! Why anyone would ever cover over extra storage space in a bathroom is beyond me, but it worked out great for us. Some friends of ours are currently remodelling their bathroom too so I cannot wait to compare our progress! They live in San Diego so have enlisted the help of Remodel Works to take care of everything for them. How exciting.

I saw your post on Remodelaholic… You did such a great job! I have a question for you..We did the high bead board in our bathroom too…and I cannot figure out how to put a mirror over it now. How did you hang that cute mirror up with the Chair rail molding in the way?

Lacey – Since we installed the upper chair rail, we just cut the trim so there was a cut out for the mirror.
Karrie – The beadboard is only 1/4″ thick so we just have the mirror over the beadboard. If it was thicker we would have had to think of something else.
ChRiS – We ran the tiles up to the same point that the old tiles were, so we didnt have to do anything above that point. <3 Adri
I LOVE that flooring. We had a 1940s home and that would totally look great in our house! Where did you find it?
We are in the middle of adding a bathroom to our house and are almost ready to do the interiors… I am looking for a vanity, I like the vanity you have, where did you find that? I am also looking into finding a great dresser and converting it into a vanity – any advice? Basically I don’t want a “Home Depot” looking vanity, but something that will fit our 1929 home better… and I love your renovations so I figured you might be able to help??
I saw your post over at Remodelaholic and am wondering is the grout on your tile (floor and tub) gray?
I’m totally inspired by your bathroom. I picked hexagon floor tiles, subway shower tiles and beadboard for our bathroom remodel and this just solidified my decision. I’m wondering about the grout, too.

Cassie- we got the vanity from Costco. Normally we would have done something DIY-but we were on a serious time limit-and this vanity was beautiful and looked distressed as well:) for other vanitys we love using a dresser and then adding the sink to the top. We definitely would have done it this way if we had more time. Hope that helps

You did great work and it looks nice. I just think it’s funny how you younger folks tear down all of the 80’s stuff that probably cost pretty much to put in, and put things back to the way they were originally when the house was built, that the owners before you, didn’t like. Now you spent all of that to put the old looking stuff in and when you sell it the new kids will tear that out and put it back to what you tore out, etc. That’s just the way things are. Isn’t it funny how we are like that. So much waste, but your work is beautiful and well done. I like all of your attention to detail and trim work.
