One of the main reasons that we went with white is because of the step at each door. If we had went with black there would have been 4 colors {white, black, dark brown, and light brown threshold which is vinyl so we cant stain it} in the small area and we feel it would have drawn the eye to that area. By going with white we think the step blends better and is less of an eye sore. Plus, since we have white blinds inside the panes of glass we thought that would look awkward with the black doors.
So where are we at in getting our family room finished? Well, almost all the trim work is complete {just missing two boxes to the left of the doors}, the built-ins are done except for the shelving and decor. The couches and dresser, ya those are all changing. The rooms layout is clearly not what we are going for, its just simply functional right now. I can’t wait for the day that this room becomes truly how it should be!
So are all you black trim paint lovers mad at me? I know- I know, it could have been awesome. But guess what? I still have the paint…and its not going to waste! Just need to figure out what else would look incredibly rad in a high gloss black. Thoughts?

Where did you get those fans? I need a decent looking one for my dining area that is not super cheesy and love these! Please share

I was a vote for black, but I’m glad you went with your gut:) They look beautiful- so light and bright!

I too was a vote for black!! I do love the white though and have always liked all your choices!! I probably would’ve got nervous too and gone with white! Can’t wait to see what’s up next on the DIY list!

Love the white! I’m also interested in where you found your ceiling fans. I need new fans throughout my house and this would be great in some of the rooms!

I voted for white on the inside and glad you did! You can always add color elsewhere in the room. Did you paint the backyard side white too or the daring black?
