Ever since having Winston, Braylen seems like he is a stinking giant! Yes, he is sort of a man-child in general, weighing in at almost 36 pounds and almost 38 in. tall. That is about the average size of a FOUR year old, and he just turned two in May. If he continues to grow like this I think I’ll be having to look around for reviews by Cute Little Darling or other sites to find a new seat for when he grows a little more. I don’t know how Jeremy and I created such a large kid, but I love it! Because he is so large and in charge, we wanted to get him a ‘big boy’ car seat sooner than some others need it, and we want to make sure that if we ever get in a collision that’d have us contacting an auto accident attorney springfield il (or based nearer to us) that he would be perfectly safe.
We searched for awhile and had a few different criteria that it had to meet. I wanted it to have:
- incredibly high ratings for safety
- to be easy to clean
- to look nice
- to have cup holder{s}.
- I also really wanted it to possibly be the last seat we have to buy for him, so I wanted it to have the 5-point harness, but be able to transition to simply a booster.
The one that fit that criteria the absolute best was the UltimateComfort Series Britax Frontier 90 exclusively made for Babies “R” Us! This thing is a dream. It is so sleek, safe, and even easy to install! AND it has two cup holders. I am not sure if your kids are like mine, but Bray always likes to have his sippy cup in one holder, and then now we have a spot for his snack cup too…brilliant! A lot of booster seats that are made don’t have even one cup holder {NO idea why, since I feel like all older kids always have a water with them}, so I love that this one has two.
It also is really comfortable for Bray to sit it. The car seat has soft, resilient memory foam surrounding the whole seat, so it is extra comfortable while still remaining extra safe. Here is a shot of the foam so you can see just how thick it is! In the event of an accident, I would feel confident that this seat has the safety precautions required to minimise any harm laid upon my child. If you have been involved in a car accident, you may find the legal expertise of somewhere like lamber goodnow to be very useful.
I also am in love with the guards that surround the chest strap. I am constantly having to seriously adjust the buckle strap on his other car seats, but this guard pretty much holds them in place:
And now for the true test of if its a good car seat or not..the kid test:
Yep, I’d say its a winner! If you are looking for a seat that will make the transition easily from 5-point harness to booster, THIS IS IT. I am so happy to say that we won’t be getting Bray another car seat any time soon…if ever!
Disclosure: This car seat was provided by Britax for the purpose of a review. All opinions and writing are my own! After all, I only work with companies that I truly love and use already.

So glad someone else has a giant two-year-old child! Mine turned 2 in Jan and is 40lbs and and around 38 inches tall. We are in desperate need of a new car seat for him and I’ve had my eye on an Eddie Bauer car seat like this one, but I’m liking the look and the safety ratings of this one. Thanks for the review!
You would love it! And I cannot believe your baby is heavier than mine- impossible;)!!!! Sucks picking them up huh?!
Yes, especially since we stopped doing naps (bedtime was getting harder and harder)…he always wants to be held in the early afternoon. Precious moments, but my arms might fall off soon.
A quick question: can/does Bray fall asleep in it or is it a little too upright for sleeping? It looks like the perfect “forever” car seat, but my son (23 months) will still occasionally takes naps in the car, so I’m not sure if I should move up to this kind of seat yet or not. Thanks for the input!
Hi Brooke,
It is a pretty upright seat, so when he has fallen asleep in it, it is a little awkward. BUT I know that he will always randomly take naps in it and eventually he needed a bigger seat, so there wasnt really a way around it- ya know? He doesnt seem to mind though..still sleeps:)
