Since last night I have been laughing, you know why…because the second I was finished painting the kitchen the tan color {same color throughout the main rooms of our house} I realized I hated it. And then J came home from school and realized he hated it. Fun, right?
Now that would make me giggle {in a frustrated wanting to cry kinda way} on a normal day,any day. The thing that made me giggle even more was the fact that I went to Home Depot today to get a quart {we almost never buy quarts, but we knew we weren’t going to use this for anything else, ever} of Ultra White in Behr Ultra PP and went home quickly to paint away the tan. I painted THREE {first time I have ever had to paint three coats in the Behr UPP} coats of the white to cover the tan, and guess what..once I was all finished, as in tape off, J home to check it out, smile on my face already… I CHOSE THE WRONG SHEEN OF PAINT.
Shoot me now.
Or better yet, just go ahead and laugh at me, make lame jokes, and think that I am totally the worst DIY blogger you’ve ever met…ESPECIALLY because I just did a post on painting tips, oh you know…..YESTERDAY!
I picked up a quart of Satin. I should’ve picked up a quart of Eggshell {even though it was in the kitchen, it wasn’t anywhere that needed to have a ‘protectiveness’ to it}. By the way- pretty sure thats not a word, and pretty sure that theres a much better way to say that…also pretty sure I don’t care right now because I am so annoyed with myself!
I went back to HD an hour ago, grabbed the correct quart and my ever so loving hubby painted a FOURTH coat of paint of the kitchen, in eggshell, to help take away the glossy look. Now folks, here comes THE REAL KICKER…
We don’t like the white either. As a matter of fact, from this whole issue we have decided {tonight, like 30 minutes ago} to re-paint our whole main living area of the house. Bedrooms and bathrooms will stay the same, but the kitchen, dining room, and living room will all be a different color come Monday. Woah. Crap. What did we just get ourselves into. Say a prayer for us. Our sanity. Our hands and backs. And most of all- pray that we freaking like the change that were about to make. We’ve already tested the color on multiple spots on multiple walls to check, but {obviously from what has happened today and yesterday} you never really know until its all finished. Only time will tell friends..

Picking paint color is seriously the hardest thing ever. The first time I went, I picked 3 different colors, brought them home and hated all 3. Went back and got a sample of something completely different. Once I got home I painted my 2×2 square to see how it looked… it was way darker and way more yellow that I wanted. Ugh. I said screw it… and went and got 5 gallons and painted the whole house the same color, lol. Thankfully, now that’s it’s all painted, I absolutely love it. But man, actually picking the colors suck! Good luck to you guys!! 🙂

Oh, I feel your pain! I have done almost the exact same thing (bought the wrong color for a second coat of paint… that sucked) and I want to laugh/cry with you. Let me know how it goes, I can always swing by with cocktails for you during your painting session! 🙂

Oh gosh! SO exhausting- I hate painting- and I always end up doing it, so tiring! I’m sorry! Can’t wait for you to be done with all of this and have it looking the way you want! Prayers for strength and peace and a happy out come.

oh no! Hope the painting gets better for you. What is the new colour/s you have chosen?

I hope you like the color when its done. It’s sometimes hard.
I have lived in my condo ten years and have painted various rooms at least three colors. We think we finally found something we can stick with for a while. I thought I wanted certain rooms different colors, nope. Two shades of grey, a lighter grey for the living, dining and hallway and a darker for the bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen. We LOVE it!

Uh! I feel for you. We have had a painting nightmare here. We bought 5 1 gallon paint cans of the same color for the bedrooms. Apparently, one is supposed to mix them all together before painting, because Home Depot can’t guarantee they will all be the same shade?!?! Being the novice I am, I did not do that. I just poured paint into the pail as I went and ended up with streaks of different shades all over the walls. I was upset and angry, it has taken me 5 months to venture into fixing it. I have finally finished Sebastian’s room. Now two more rooms to go….
