Cassity over at Remodelaholic was kind enough to do a feature today on our Living Room. Go check it out! And if you’re here from Remodelaholic, WELCOME! So glad to meet you;)
Okay, I am one of those readers over from Remodeloholic. Could you tell me more about your leveling process? I have a basement with similar problems, and we don’t even know where to start! Any help would be great appreciated. I looked for your email address, but didn’t see one.
Hi there! So for the leveling we actually had Steve {the guy that did our wood floors} do it. The connection from the dining room to the living room was completely sloped so he had to pour concrete to level it out. My advice is that if your going to spend money on putting down new floors {esp. wood-because they will crack if its not 100% level} then have a professional do it. Sorry that it wasnt a DIY proj so that I could help you more! Good luck:) <3, Adri
I’m also from Remodeloholic and wondering where in the world you found your couch… I have a similar one that will need to be retired soon, and I would love to find one like yours! Thanks!
Hi from Australia! I’m another girl who does reno’s, and loves Remodeloholic. (We also live in a cottage the same age as your place). Love the transformations to your house. Look forward to following your blog and make-overs. You did a beautiful job on the family room. Sonia 🙂
Jana- We actually bought it from some friends of ours who had it for about 6 months. It was in PERFECT condition, but of course with our dogs, not so much now;) They got it from Denmarket. It is really perfect for our room because its super long but not super wide, making sectionals really tough to work. And at first I was weirded out by how low the back is, but now love it. It makes you either feel comfortable to rest your arms up on it on slink down low for your head! Raine-Thank you so much! Isn’t it so fun having an old place?!
S. Anderson- I spoke to J and he said that Steve used self leveling concrete from Home Depot, you just mix it up and pour over the low part of your floor and it self levels (hence the name). Hope that helps.
Thanks so much for all the great information. We are definitely going to have to have someone come in and do it because it is our whole huge basement. Just helpful to know that some one else had a successful releveling experience! Thanks again!
