Hi there friend! Ready for the second edition of Monday Tips? Today I am talking about my most favorite place to grocery shop — Costco! It’s such a great store, it literally has everything that you would want. However, due to its popularity, it can be busy at times. When it’s busy, it can feel a bit chaotic. During one of these busy periods, a customer did experience an injury caused by an employee. They ended up contacting a Costco injury attorney to help them get some compensation for their injury. Other than that one accident, I don’t think I’ve heard of another time where someone was injured in-store. Normally, it’s a pretty popular store, but customers still have their own space.
Now, I realize that Costco might not make the most sense for people only cooking for themselves, or even one other person. Don’t get me wrong, there are still plenty of items on my list that Jeremy and I alone, or sometimes even just me alone can manage to go through in a week! Overall though, Costco is where its at for great prices on bulk! And you know what? Some of their items I don’t even consider to be ‘bulk’ because of how fast my little family of four goes through it. I always love when I see people post pictures of their carts at Costco, or shares about a new product there they love, so I thought it would be fun to share all my go-to’s at Costco for you guys!
I am choosing to not include individual prices for each item {unless it simply made it in the photo} because I quite honestly am clueless as to if the prices are the same across states. I also don’t have a photo of quite everything I buy because this was not a staged trip, and thankfully I don’t have to buy every.single.thing that I love there every week! I will list it all out though:) I always try to keep our groceries at $400/under a month. I try and buy as much Organic as possible, but sometimes the budget doesn’t allow all organic, and sometimes Costco simply doesn’t carry the item organic.
Here are all the items that I buy regularly at Costco {when the items are in season and in the store}. Some need replacing weekly, and some last for a few months- but they are all loved by us!
Produce:
Organic apples, Bananas, Cantaloupe, Cutie oranges, Pineapple, Pears, Organic berries, Organic Spinach, Superfoods 7 mix {the bag pictured above- you have to get this if you haven’t tried it before!}, Organic baby carrots, Bell Peppers, Brussel Sprouts, Organic sweet potatoes, Diced organic butternut squash, Grapes, Avocados, Cauliflower, Broccoli.
Dairy/Refrigerated Items:
Kerrygold butter {we only buy this butter, and go through the pack of 3 about every other week!}, Tillamook Extra sharp cheddar cheese {We usually buy this cheese, but sometimes get the Kerrygold Dubliner}, Organic half and half, Organic eggs {best price for 2 dozen organic eggs around}, Silk Almond milk, Organic regular hummus, El Sol salsa {wish this was organic, but it is still so good and a huge container for under $4!}.
Organic ground beef, Organic chicken breasts, Rotisserie chicken {while its not Organic, we still buy one every week and use it for one dinner protein, and the rest gets put on salads and sandwiches throughout the week}, and Aidells chicken and apple sausage.
Individual organic guacamole cups, Mini Naan {we love using these for individual pizzas or warmed up with hummus and chicken/veggies, Cranberry chicken cups, organic Acai juice {if you love Acai bowls or smoothies- BUY this instead of the super expensive frozen packs…just pour the juice in and its the same thing for 1/2 the price!} Fage greek yogurt, and Suja cold pressed organic green juice.
Pantry items:
Organic chia seeds, Organic hemp hearts, Organic quinoa, Pecans, Almonds, Organic quinoa&brown rice pouches {so great if you have never tried them!}, Wild planet Albacore tuna, White Linen marinara sauce, Pita chips, Pure maple syrup, Avocado oil, Organic coconut oil, White vinegar, 505 green chilis, and Kettle Corn.
Coach’s oats, Himalayan pink salt, Raw AZ wildflower honey {buy whatever local honey your Costco has!}, Larabars or Renola {if were having a really busy week and don’t have time to make our own Larabars}, Dr. Bronners peppermint soap, Orgain protein powder.
I know this sounds like an insane amount, and it would be if I bought it all at once- but that never happens! And while sometimes it hurts to see the larger prices above some items, I know {through lots of comparison} that Costco almost always has the best prices around! I love them for that, and for their insanely amazing return policy.
So thats what I love at Costco! I also love that they pass out samples all day, every day, it makes shopping with the boys so much easier as Bray just eats his way through the store;)
Do you have some favorite items from there that I didn’t list here? I would seriously love to know about any hidden gems!!!

I love to go to Costco! But since we moved to the country and the closest one is 180 miles away it is not something we do very often anymore. They used to have a spinach and artichoke dip that was so yummy. We also stocked up on a Midget Cheese only Costco carried. And they do have the best produce in the world.

Peggy- so glad you agree on the produce! I feel like their quality is seriously the best!!

We don’t have a Costco around here. But we have Sam’s and BJ’s. I have a membership to Sam’s and I really need to take advantage of shopping there more. I liked seeing what your family purchases…it has given me a few ideas for my own family! Thanks for sharing.

Of course Rebecca. I feel like I always get so inspired by seeing what others go for, so glad to help!

We LOVE our costco trips! A lot of what you get we get as well, but we pretty much always have to have our fig bars on hand! The website says they’re way more expensive than they really are…but they’re a staple in our house! Oh! And I just saw that they got some Honest company sunscreen and shampoo/body wash. We’ll start getting those as well!

You have to try their refrigerated tortillas! They come preformed as raw dough and you just cook them on the stove top in a nonstick pan and they smell and taste terrific, just like homemade, plus they aren’t as fragile as already cooked ones. They’re in the refrigerated aisle next to the milk aisle in my costco and the brand is tortilla fresca. We also always buy natural/organic PB+J fixings, and I love to put just peanut butter on their whole grain raisin bread for a super easy lunch or picnic for my kids! There are so many items to love at costco, I have a long list too! (:
Adri says
Erin- so funny- I forgot to mention those tortillas! We love them! We always buy them and instantly freeze one of the two packages since there is so many! Thanks love

I have a love hate relationship with our Costco. I live in Alberta, Canada, so it is rather pricey, but I love the selection. (we don’t get a lot of the selection available in USA stores, unfortunately.)
But my issue is that I go in with the intention of buying two or three specific things, and end up with a whole lot more, costing several hundreds of dollars. My biggest bill there was just over $700 once, and that was a wonderful shop at a terrifying reality. Yes, I know better, but once there, all of my intentions go out the window!
Adri says
HAHA i totally get that!! it can be dangerous. I feel like if you go weekly though, you are less tempted to buy the random things and just get what you truly need.

We also are big Costco fans! Always get avocados, cuties, and my favorite coffee. I love Kirkland brand coffee beans in the green bag…..they have a grinder you can use. And then the seasonal items, lol. I could go on and on!! Did I mention the samples?!! 😉
Adri says
oohh ive never bought their coffee! is it fairly bold or no?

We love the tortilla chips. always under 4$ for a huge bag. this stuff lasts forever too so we don’t have to worry about not using it quickly. We’ve had ones last an entire month before going stale.
