Yesterday I got to do something that I had been looking forward to for a long time. I got to replace our brown and yellow dishes with bright crisp white beauties from C&B. When we got married we didn’t really know what our style for home-stuff was. We registered for some great dishes, also from C&B {although discontinued now}, and loved them at the time. They were great, but for at least a year now I have been wanting any excuse to get white dishes. Once the kitchen was finished J finally said I could! It worked out perfectly too, because our friend that was living with us, was moving out and needed some dishes! We did consider selling them, but there were too many tiny chips to get good $$ from them.
We chose the Aspen set from C&B. I am obsessed with how clean and simple they are. I am excited to be able to use them for any occasion, dress them up with color, leave them simple and plain, whatever!
This photo set a HUGE grin on my face..I mean, who doesn’t love 4 large bags from C&B!?
So much freaking paper. I wish they could have protected them without waisting so much:( |
I am totally in love with the set. I got 12 bowls, 12 salad plates, 12 dinner plates, and 4 mugs. I know you’re probably thinking, Huh?! I only got 4 mugs because I am the only one who drinks coffee, and I wasn’t in love with the Aspen mugs. I bought one 16-set, so that I would have enough mugs to get me through until I find more that I love. You get a price break when you buy the set, but I just couldn’t handle having 12 mugs that i’m not crazy about. Am I crazy? Don’t answer that:)
I know that this is one of their most popular sets, does anyone out there have them as well? They got amazing reviews {yes, I am so that geek that seriously reviews dishes} so i’m sure they’ll be great. Oh- and I saw this post on AT yesterday that gives tips on how to fix chips, not sure if i’d go through that much work to fix it, but you might:)

These are really pretty, and totally classic. We received bright Fiestaware for our wedding, which I actually still love. But, I too, wanted white. I went with simple white Fiestaware and love. I have way too many dishes now, but I’m set for any occasion.

I love white dishes, they go with everything and it might should silly but I swear they make your food look better (which makes it taste better of course)!

i have white dishes as well. i bought the 12 mugs and really regret it – you were so smart. they are wasting space in my cabinet but i can’t part with them.
tip – go by a couple of extra of the plates/bowls. when you break one, you won’t be as sad. if you are like me and have the discontinued curse, run fast. they may be gone next month!!

I love white dishes. We got them for our wedding 6 years ago. Food looks great on white plates.

Glad you girls like them too!! And I already (after using them two times) think they make the food look better! How fun! @corutney-I used to have 8 mugs and even that was too much! I’m gonna stick with the 4white ones-and one random one-for as long as possible! And I totally should go buy extra.
So glad y’all don’t think they are boring:)

Since I am backtracking, I just found this post. I ADORE simple white ~ anything. I have an entire set of white Corelle dishes and adore them. I am slowly adding 1 of the different settings to complete a set of 8(live in a small apt). I didn’t opt for cups as I prefer clear mugs.

I love the dishes, they are so classic! We have just plain white correlle, but I would like to upgrade to something that is a little more elegant, but still white. So excited to have found your blog!

You have to have a set of white dishes…they dress up so well or look simple and elegant on their own! Crate and Barrel is good quality…I bet they get great reviews. I am with you on the mugs. They take up a lot of space, too. Enjoy your new dishes! My heart did a little pitter patter when I saw the bags, too! ;-D
