We are still plugging away over here trying to get his nursery FULLY finished. The fabric for his crib skirt just came in yesterday {after being on back order for over a month!}, so I am so excited to get that going. One easy-peasy project that J did a few weekends back was put together a side table for me. We got the great base for it at Modern Manor and simply added the top that we loved.
To attach, simply find the center of the table and mark:
Then before attaching, if you are wanting to stain it, do so now. First lightly sand with a fine sand paper, then proceed. We went with the same stain we used on the bench in the nursery, Dark Walnut:
J normally wears gloves when staining, but this apparently our gloves had seen their last day because who knew 110+ degrees doesn’t help. This is what happened when he tried to put it on, haha:
We only did one coat of the stain, and wiped it off after about 45 seconds. We chose not to seal it this time, because I honestly want that look of it being beat up. I know that by having water glasses on there, and just life in general, this table top could look pretty great all weathered. Now, if we change our minds down the road, then we can simply sand and re stain.
We got the wood top from Lowes. And its as easy as that…
PS- I don’t know how all you mamas do it. Bray is almost 2 1/2 months and these sleepless nights are killing me! He is such a great baby, but I am so missing my sleep! This too shall pass, right?!

LOVE the table!
My baby is 8 weeks today and the sleepless night are catching up with me big time. Plus I have a 4 year old and my husband is deployed so NO “sleeping when the baby sleeps” for me haha!
The thing that gets me through is that with the 2nd baby, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. You KNOW eventually that baby will sleep through the night. This time is just a moment, not the rest of your life!

Those sleepless nights will pass – not quickly enough or all too quickly!

If he’s waking more than once per night, have you considered bringing him into your bed?
With both of my boys I’d start them out for the night in their own crib/bassinet. When they woke for their first feeding I’d bring them to bed with me so that I wouldn’t have to get up for the next feeding and they wouldn’t have time to fully wake up while fussing for me. That first stretch of sleep gradually gets longer and longer until they’re spending the whole night in their own space.

This looks great. I love the metal base. It’s Di handy to have a table for all the stuff.

I have been reading your blog for over a year, I love it. I am about 5 months pregnant and my coworker gave me a book called “On Becoming Babywise”. They said it is the best thing they ever did as parents. They have a two year old and she has been on the same sleep schedule, 7pm to 7am, since she was a couple months old. She requires no cuddling before bed, when it is time for bed she just goes to bed. I am reading the book now and it makes a ton of sense. I can’t wait to put in in action when my little one arrives in December. Best of luck to you guys!

Adri! I found you via Scottsdale Moms Blog and I’m loving that you are local and blogging about home design/DIY. I can’t wait to head down to Modern Manor I’ve never been?! I’ll be sure to let them know how I found them. We’re knee deep renovating a house in Arcadia and I’m always looking for new local shops with interesting decor. Thanks!
ps I have a 3 and 1 year old and I promise you it gets better! The sleepless nights are oh-so hard and it begins to feel like Groundhog’s Day, but somehow you’ll look back on these days and not remember them as bad…Funny how God does that. 😉

Love the quick and easy table! We’re still looking for one to put in our little one’s nursery. Might have to try this out.
My baby is 2 1/2 months old too and has been sleeping through the night (9pm-7am) for about two weeks now. I’ve been following/reading the book Moms on Call Guide to Basic Baby Care: The First Six Months and it’s worked like a charm!! I hope that you can find something that works for your little guys too 🙂
