You guys, it is here, and its a beauty!
We didn’t have a coffee table for a long time in this house for multiple reasons. But the main reason was that we could never agree on one that we both liked. We looked around hundreds of shops, and on online stores like https://paydaydeals.com.au/collections/coffee-tables but we just couldn’t decide. We thought about DIYing some, buying some, and then for a long while- we just gave up! Jeremy was on a constant search though ever since we got our leather Chesterfield sofa, because having that nice of a sofa with no coffee table just felt wrong!
Finally, we found one we both loved on Build.com and the problem was solved! This table is perfect for where we are at in life. It is big, it is sturdy as all get out, it is resilient to markers {trust me, we tested out that theory real quick}, and it has storage while still maintaining a good design. I love that is has a farmhouse style feel to it, and goes well with our dining room table.
The underneath of the table is just asking to be filled. Hopefully not with toys, but definitely filled. I love that it provides some extra storage space without having to clutter up the top too much.
And while the bottom is awesome, its the top that sold us both. We spent a lot of time deciding what kind of coffee table design we both wanted as there are just so many options available! There are the traditional wooden ones (which is the kind of design we decided on), or there are very colorful ones made from resin (check resin materials out via https://www.3-form.com/materials/chroma and similar websites) that we were also very attracted to. Once we had settled on the other elements of the room, such as the sofa, we made our final choice. We love the design it has and all the detail it shows:
It is so nice to have something there finally. I cannot believe we went almost two years without any form of a coffee table. And working with Build couldn’t have been easier. I love when a company has amazing customer service, and every time we have gotten stuff from them its always been seamless.
Oh ya, I forgot to also mention- we got a new rug!! Once we got the sofa the blue rug just didn’t work anymore. So two years after buying all the initial rugs in our home from RugsUSA’s Cyber Monday, we bought another one at this year’s sale. It was backordered for quite a while, but it is here and perfect! We went with a jute, because we really wanted a light-colored rug again, but wanted it to hold up better than other materials would. I love how the rug looks and I’m currently looking at getting another one for our bedroom. I’ve found a fantastic German website called Topteppiche.de but I haven’t chosen which color I want yet. There’s so many to choose from, I’m spoilt for choice!!
It feels so good to get this room more and more put together. It is never finished, because as always-rooms in our home never are, but it’s making a ton of progress. Do you have a coffee table you love? Where did you get it from? I always love seeing other peoples sources.

I’ve been looking at some jute rugs, but was worried they wouldn’t be very soft for kiddos to crawl around on – how do you feel about yours?
Adri says
Hi Dacia- The jute is no where near as soft as a normal rug, but Winston doesn’t seem to mind crawling on it. I feel like their knees get so tough so quickly while crawling anyways:)

We made a coffee table from a vintage mid century bench with a metal frame (used the base) and a mid century coffee table (used the top). I LOVE it!
