Friend In Real Life?

Really though, would you be my friend in real life if you saw me wearing this?!

I hope your answer would be YES! {Thats a shout for joy yes, just so you know!} This outfit is just a fine little example of what I wear while I work out. Thankfully I don’t belong to a gym, so not too many people have to see me like this..you know- other than all the cars I run by on a busy street! You see, those tube socks are genius. When its not cold enough out to wear pants, but a little too chilly for just shorts..tube socks save the day! And yes, I realize they are different colors, but if you do know me in real life- you know I rarely have matching socks on, takes too much effort in the sock drawer. A good pair of socks can make the outfit (I think that’s the saying), but seriously, if you do love socks and you want to add to your collection, you may want to take a look at some sustainable socks so you’re helping the environment as well as looking great in the mirror.

I have had some people ask me about my workout routine while pregnant. A pretty typical week for me is something like this:

  • Run 1.5-2 miles 3x a week
  • Do this freaking awesome workout video 1x a week {This video kicks my butt, as in I think it would be a challenge even if I wasn’t pregnant. Might be because I am not a lover of squats/lunges, so anything that involves those is challenging}
  • Do some form of a prenatal yoga video 1x a week. I really like this DVD, but I also switch it up to other ones often.

I of course have had everything approved by my doctor. She said as long as I am feeling ok {your body really lets you know when too much is too much} that I can continue everything I was doing before hand. I also wear a heart rate monitor while I run just to make sure it doesn’t go too high. My doctor said that the thought that you can’t have it go above 140 while pregnant is an old-school thought. Some people naturally have a higher rate at all times, which would make 150-160 a perfectly safe zone. I do get peace of mind though from wearing it.

I try to eat healthy all of the time. But don’t get me wrong, I totally indulge in delicious Mexican food, desserts, whatever else. It’s all about balance and keeping me and the little man healthy. I have also been paying more attention to my sleep schedule. In fact, I have heard that exercising can help you get a better night’s sleep and manage insomnia. However, if you are still having trouble sleeping even after getting enough physical activity, given the health of the little one inside, it could be concerning. If this is the case, it may well be prudent to seek medical help from a sleep doctor. Maybe they’ll recommend a sleep study (find out how much does a sleep study cost) for diagnosing the problem, but don’t worry, it could just be what you need.

So, am I the only one that could care less about what they look like while they work out? I hope not, because that would be embarrassing!

    I never ever match when I work out. I think I just don’t own any matching workout clothes. You’re lucky you can run outside in shorts at all right now! I’m usually all bundled up to go out to run. Stinkin’ winter ๐Ÿ™‚

    Good for you for working out while you are pregnant. I didn’t and totally regretted it. It took me a year to loose most of the baby weight and I hated how I looked that year so keep up the good work, and you will probably be able to wear that outfit home from the hospital =)
