Going thrifting is like a game to me. Each day that I go out with a plan to go to multiple Savers and Goodwills I hope and pray I will find something unique. Once I get in the store I start my hunt. I am not a real life hunter, but I am a real life thrift store hunter. Much better in my opinion;) This week I didn’t have too much luck for finding fun DIY items, but I still did score something things, and for sure saw interesting items.
First awesome find of the day:
This chest was solid, you could totally tell real work went in to making it. I didn’t end up buying it because J and I are trying to consolidate items in our home rather than add unnecessary items {you know, adding a human to your house makes you think like that I guess} but I could see this being used for so many things. To store paints, craft supplies, jewelry making supplies, stamps, pretty much whatever your heart desires. No joke, two seconds after I finished snapping these photos an old man asked me if I was buying it, I said no, and he snatched it right up. Good eye old man, good eye.
Next up, this awesome metal piece. I totally loved it, and this thing was heavy duty. I wanted to figure out a way to incorporate it in the the little mans nursery, but just couldn’t figure it out..so I passed. Again, only trying to bring in necessary items.
Up next, a real jewel:
Haha, obviously i’m kidding..BUT I have something that makes this hilarious. This beautiful frame was donated to this particular Savers..from me. Yes, that is my old frame. I love when I find my old treasures scattered throughout the store. It kills me that they were trying to sell this bad boy for $2.99!!
Now, here is a really fun part of thrifting currently for me, baby items. I have never spent time in the kids clothes/toys/book departments. No need before, but now- i’m all over it. Just this past week I got a Baby Gap winter knit sweater, an adorable Baby Gap onesie, and a Ralph Lauren outfit that will be perfect for 4th of July! Grand total of those items: $3.50…FOR BABY GAP and RL! The sweater alone was prob. originally $40. I also found a great deal on some baby books:
Total of these 5 books: $2.50. I want our little babe to have a ton of books, and I don’t want to spend a ton of money to get them, so I have a feeling thrift stores will be my best friend:)
And possibly one day, one day I will buy one of these cuties:
Is it just me or is that horse adorable? Maybe a little creepy, but definitely cute!
So those are my recent finds..anyone have some great ones of their own? Let me hear it..and have a great weekend!!
First…How was that your old frame? Second, my girls cutest clothing items they have come from Goodwill. LOVE that. Third, thought you might like this idea….for Vivee’s 2nd birthday, I did a” bookworm theme” I suggested everyone bring a used book they love as a gift. We seriously got the BEST books from that party and everyone felt good about not going out and having to buy a gift. Also everyone wrote a note to her inside the book which makes them super special 🙂 And who needs more toys? noy us! P.S. we all can’t wait to see your nursery ideas
You are such a great thrift store shopper AND find the cutest stuff. I swear there’s nothing nearly as cute/cool when I go, lol. Definitely good finds for you and baby L. 🙂
I can’t BELIEVE you passed up that old sewing box!! Soooo many fun possibilities. Of course, I would of also had trouble passing up the rocking horse and I don’t even have kids. LOL
I looove your blog and has been following it for quite a while now. Oh, how I wish I had your eye for decorating! 🙂 I’ve never commented before, but I thought I give you an idea of where you can go buy your books. I love this website called BetterWorldBooks.com, they sell used books online with free shipping and part of every purchase you make goes to fund literacy in America and abroad. It’s awesome! I wish everyone could go and buy their books there. Looking forward to keep reading your blog and see all the new projects that come with having a new little baby. 🙂
I think I know all the words to that one I read it to my friend’s little girl so many times. She really loves that book.
When I go thrifting I have a “list” (usually mental) of types of things I’m looking for, for specific projects and I really shop that list and only stray if something is just drop dead amazing. It helps me keep the clutter out.
And I’ve seen my old items at Goodwill before. It’s kinda like, “Ahhhh so we meet again!”
Gotta know if the ears on that rocking horse were buttons to make the head and tail move and make neighing sounds? If so, my daughter was given a similar one for Christmas that she absolutely LOVES! She was a little creeped out by it a first but now we can’t get her off it!

great find on the books! I also like garage sales and discount stores for books, they can be really pricey otherwise!
