Haver Home Flip

white subway tile kitchen

I am so excited to finally show y’all our most recent flip we completed with Ryan and Kylie of Modern Manor, here in Phoenix!

This home had amazing bones to begin with, considering the architect was Ralph Haver, but we still had a blast going in and changing things up a bit! Haver homes have a midcentury feel to them in everything, down to the shape of the windows, and the slants in the ceilings. We love being able to work with something that has such a great character to it structurally.

For the kitchen, dining room, and living room, we had to move around a few walls. We also opened up some space, closed off a random door to the outside, and switched a fireplace from being inside, to outside. We have also been considering an air conditioning replacement for the place; I mean, a whole new place warrants a whole new HVAC system, doesn’t it? It is always so fun to me when I write these posts because sometimes I forget just how bad the homes are when we get them. Ready to see the before shots?

That lovely paneling was what made up a lot of the walls in the now living room. Luckily the room had those beautiful beams that we were mainly able to keep, but everything else had to go! See that brick wall in the bottom corner? That was a wall up in the kitchen that we took down. What a beautiful difference it makes taking out walls to open up a room! Maybe some sunrise sunset wall art can look amazing on the refurbished living room walls. Here is that room now:

You ready for the pretty kitchen? Here it was before we got our hands on it:

And the after:

We turned a small living space in to a functional Dining Room too! Now don’t get me wrong, I am always a fan of having a fireplace in the home. But in this case, it just couldn’t make sense- so we did the next best thing. We were able to keep the chimney, but we switched it to where the fireplace is on the outside now {i’ll show that later- its so cool}! Here is the before:

And the current Dining Room:

So what do y’all think? Some pretty fun Before + Afters right? Next week I will be showing you the bedrooms, bathrooms, and exterior. We did a pretty great job on exteriors by adding plants and renovating the patio, roofing, etc. I’m so glad that we got remodeling experts who could finish everything wonderfully well within the stipulated time. After all, time is money. This is probably why many homeowners tend to hire reliable roofing and exterior repair companies like D’Angelo & Sons Construction Ltd. (visit this website to learn more) that can ensure that the renovations are carried out decently within the agreed-upon period.

We enjoyed the whole process of home renovation and are a bit mindblown by how it all came together. This home was so fun to transform, and thankfully we got really blessed again by having this one sell super fast!

Man, I think you have a great career ahead of you. You turned a dump into a chic, clean place. If you watch your carrying costs I think you will make a fortune. I would rather see you on a TV show on HGTV than the couple from LA. Great job!
Are you going to stage it, or is that moot because it has sold already?

haha Ann you are awesome!! We would die to be on HGTV…maybe one day;)
We normally love staging our flips, but this one practically sold before it was even listed, so we didn’t want to spend money on something so not necessary. Bummer though because homes photograph so much more amazing when staged!

Looks so great! Any tips on finding a home to make a profit?! We are living in Henderson, NV and I am so home hungry… but this isn’t our “forever” city and we will most likely only stay a couple more years at the most! I would love to be able to buy and do some renovations to be able to turn around a profit when we move, as well as love the home I’m in at the moment! Also did you do a lot of the labor or hire out? My husband and I are not handy enough to do much of anything ourselves, but I’m worried about labor costs! Any advice would be much appreciated! Thx and love the blog as usual!

Great makeover.. Opening up an area makes a huge difference as long as you can heat it sufficiently. In South Africa with our electricity blackouts it is a problem. Personally I find the dark grout in the kitchen too busy, but the cabinet colour is amazing!

What a beautiful transformation! This really shows what light can do to a place, gorgeous. I did kind of like the stone tiles in the old kitchen though, but they don’t really fit the new design.
