How Do You Use Your Garage?

Over here at Dream Book we have quite the battle over what our garage is used for. The garage is technically a two car garage, but I don’t see it that way. J has a large SUV and I have a mini SUV which I’m thinking of upgrading to the HR-V, so to me, theres no way we could easily get both of our cars in with how its placed. The garage is separate from the house, with it backing up to the alley. Getting the car into the garage isn’t any fun. Its a pretty tight turn in there, and lets just say i’m not the best driver in town. If I had to try and make that turn, AND avoid hitting Js car…riggghttt. Luckily, I have some pretty cheap car insurance so I don’t mind parking the car on the drive or on the street because I know I’m covered if anything were to happen to it. That then means there’s space in the garage for me to fill with all of my junk! Anyway- if there is a car that uses the garage its his and I’m ok with that! {I will admit, his car is much nicer than mine:( when he brought it he had it shipped here using a service similar to CarsRelo, so it’s pretty much his baby at the moment.}

HERES the dilemma though, do you actually use your garage to store your car, or store your crap??

Anytime we have a project {or really I shouldn’t lie and say “we”, but instead “J”}going on, the garage is definitely used for storage and work space. All other times, we attempt to use it properly and actually store a car in there!

This is what it looks like in “project mode”:

As you can see, when a project is going on, theres nooo way an SUV can fit.
So heres my question: How do y’all use your garage if you have one? Your garage may be somewhat limited if you have a faulty door that may need repairing or replacing. If so, you may decide you want to check out a website like https://www.garagedoorguruny.com/garage-door-repair-elmont-ny/ as they present a number of solutions for these types of problems. Then, you can have the garage that you have always wanted in your home.
Storage?
Parking your car?
And if you don’t have a car, in your opinion, what is the best way to utilize it?? I would love some feedback:)
<3,
Adri

    Oh, how I wish I had a garage. If I did, it would be full of projects and such needed storage.

    half of it is used for my car and the other half is for storage. My husband’s truck won’t fit in there, so it works out good for us.

    My garage is totally split. Since we live in MN with snow and frost – ideally it would be for parking. But as I usually have 2 pieces of furniture at all times, I usually have to park in the street. But it is totally worth it.

    OR you can convert it to your quilting studio … like ME.

    We were garageless for 10 years so when we finally built one we made it super deep. There’s a workshop area and a foosball table(cause once we got a garage I was really over having my living room sound like a pool hall :)) We put hubby’s full size truck and my lil car in there. on the sides fo the cars are surfboard racks and wetsuit drying racks. Hubby hung big hooks in the ceiling rafters for the bikes.

    Our tradition is to clean out the garage admire that we cleared enough space for one car. park in it for a few nights until i inevitably buy something at a yard sale and fill it up again. currently it has two couches that need to be reupholstered ๐Ÿ™‚

    To make my garage organize, I bought a separate cabinet where I can put all my stuff according to type separately.
