Edit: I wrote this post originally two years ago, and I still love it just as much, if not more since we now have two kids that make messes:) Still not a sponsored post, just giving our honest opinions on a product we love.
If you haven’t heard of the iRobot Roomba then you are missing out…seriously. We love having our house clean but hate cleaning the floors, at least I do. The issue with wood floors is you have to clean them twice. Once to get all the dust, hair, etc. up, then again with wood cleaner. The iRobot cleans hard surface floors and carpet. Goes from surface to surface easily and is smart while doing it.
It ‘learns’ your home and then follows a pattern in cleaning it. It literally senses walls and corners before it gets to them. It also has a timer you can set so if you know that every Sunday at 11am you are out of the house, you can set it to that time and it will start on its own. The best part: it finds its docking station {charging station} on its own too. At least for our 1,980sq ft. home it cannot clean the whole thing on one charge, so once it gets low it simply finds the docking station to recharge. Depending on how dirty our floors are, the compartment has to get emptied twice, but thats not bad at all, considering we have two dogs that shed!
Here is the thing in action:
If there is a room that you don’t want it to approach {cough cough- Brays nursery while hes sleeping} then you set up these sensors that make the iRobot think its a wall:
Honestly, this thing has been a saving grace for us. Its like having a house cleaner come clean your floors while you are gone, but you only have to pay for them once. One of the best parts: we got ours at Costco, so if theres ever an issue with it, they have an incredible return policy. Ironically, we got this right after J got out of school. Before he went in school he was in charge of cleaning the floors, and I did the rest. But while in school, I did all the cleaning, so I was so excited for him to take that responsibility back- and then we got this thing a week later. How did my 9 month pregnant self have to vacuum and clean the floors instead of simply hit ‘clean’?! I do have a feeling that this will become even more of our best friend once Bray start tossing his food on the floor..that or our dogs are gonna get fat really, really fast!

I have been seriously considering buying one soon. I hate vacuuming so much and my mom has actually been doing it very say while she’s here with Henry. She’s going back to Phoenix in a few weeks and I have to take that job back. This may be the solution.

I purchased an IRobot Roomba several years ago, following a surgery. In fact, her name is “Roxie”! I love her…she does an outstanding job cleaning. We have a dog and two cats and you would not believe what she picks up. I wouldn’t trade her for anything!

Thank you so much for the RUMBA review plus the cleaning review. I am 62 and recovering from a major ilness. My husband and I have 2 short haired SHEDD ING dogs. I will have a Rumba. It takes me all morning to do our 1975 sq. Ft. Home. This would help me so much!
