I’m such a tease. I know it. These past two weeks i’ve been showing little bits and pieces here and there, without ever showing the whole sha-bang. I figured since its Friday, I should be nice and stop with the teasing, and just be real. So without further ado, here are the ‘plans’.

Thanks to Lowes we were able to draw up a pretty good image of what we were going for. They let you do one main room for free. Remember, we really like free:) We of course did the kitchen so we could envision what we were wanting. In this photo above is shows a pretty good picture of what were having done. Some changes are that the table in the kitchen will most likely be round instead of rectangle, and we definitely would never have hideous green seat cushions {or whatever those look like in the photo-yikes!} We also are repainting the kitchen, so the color of wall will no longer be a light yellow, but instead something different. And here i’m totally not trying to be a tease again, we just cant freaking decide. I want something, he wants something different. I think I should win because -HELLO who uses the kitchen more often?! Also, on the wall with brick, it shows a yellow strip of paint that wont be painted. That whole wall is brick, the arch way and all. Another change is that we of course are doing crown and base boards all over. Lets be honest here, there isn’t one room {NO exaggeration here} in our house that doesn’t have crown and baseboards. Moulding obsessed much? Nah. And finally, two other things will change as well. We aren’t going to have cabinets on the side of the island where stools will be. That will simply be an overhang over granite, so people can comfortably put their legs under the island. After all, to us- a kitchen is where people should feel comfortable to linger, to hang out, to have memorable conversations, so the more comfortable we can make it-the better.
This is the old layout of our house (we made it at floorplanner.com which is a great site to create the layout of your house). The grey-brown color shows where there is wood. The yellow shows the old tile we had. You know, the tile they used in all bathrooms, kitchen, and wait for it..the kitchen countertops! PTL we will no longer have big tiled, large grouted, counters! Instead, we might think of getting a little bit of help from Stone Tech Fabricators to choose the ideal stone for our countertops. Woohoo!!!!
This is now the new layout (also from floorplanner.com)! I cannot wait for the kitchen and living room to flow together. To be able to be standing at the island {the island we never had before!!!ekk!} and be able to look out into the living room and interact. Before, I totally felt like I was cut off from any and all communication going on outside the kitchen. Now when we have dinner parties I will actually be able to talk with the guests! Yay! This might not be good though..me multitasking while cooking doesn’t equal good food. Yikes.
I also am so over the moon about moving the laundry room. The old laundry room used to be a part of the new kitchen. Now it is moved into the old ‘kitchen/breakfast nook’ which wasn’t an area we used all that often. I cannot believe how big the laundry room is going to be. I am not going to know what to do with myself having room to move around in! I also can’t wait to decorate that room. I’m thinking, fun chandelier, awesome open shelving, a drying rack, etc. More plans to come on that at another time though! It is a lot of hard work (and fun) doing a kitchen remodel, so you need to make sure that you are picking what you want and you liaise with people similar to Milwaukee Kitchen Remodeling Services, for example, or talk to your local contractor as you do not want to end up with something you hate and have to keep looking at!
We also are acquiring a large pantry area out of the makeover. We now will have an abundance of cabinets {which I’ve been told once you have kids, you can never have enough cabinets}. Plus, we are getting another oven! Hooray for being able to host future Thanksgiving or Christmas (hopefully). However, I have been told to go for a second-hand oven this time to save a considerable amount of money. Additionally, I have been suggested to look up keywords like Second Hand Kitchen Appliances on the Internet to find some shops that sell good-quality used appliances. I think I might give this some thought because it sounds reasonable. That said, most appliances aren’t weird or absurd, but when you go online searching for kitchen accessories, you may find some of the Weirdest Kitchen Gadgets that can leave you utterly baffled. Nonetheless, it is your choice to spend your money on what intrigues you.
Overall, we are so excited to finally be able to share these plans with y’all. I totally felt like a girl cheating on her boyfriend with y’all these past couple of weeks. Cheating you out of the full picture, out of our full excitement! Well, there it all is! We hope you like the vision were taking as much as we do…
Let me know what you think..good or bad. Just don’t be a rude jerk though, ok?! Because I can be sensitive:) Love you all.
<3,
Adri
