You know those moms who are incredibly fabulous, put together, and always crafting beautiful things with their kids? Ya, I am so not one of them. 90% of the time my hair is thrown up in a bun of some sorts {and no, I am not talking about pretty little top-knot, I am talking a messy weird whatever bun}. I consider it a special occasion if I put mascara on {truly, ask my friends, because they all notice when I am wearing some and ask what the event is, haha}. I do make it a high priority to have meaningful and fun interaction with bray daily, but that doesn’t always equal Pinterest worthy crafts…at all.
But guess what? I am 100% ok with all of this. It is who I am, the stage of life I am in, and I am comfortable with it. I also try not to let the lack-of-perfection of things discourage me from doing anything. Which leads me to these Valentines Day cards Bray and I made yesterday. I decided about 5 minutes before said craft time, that we should make some. I also didn’t have much/if any supplies on hand that would work well. I was not about to go to the store to get anything, so we made do with what we had. And that happened to be some Crayola white paper and red fabric paint:)
{Oh and in keeping with the theme of not letting the lack-of-perfection hold me back, I am posting these photos 100% unedited even though they really need it. My flash player isn’t working for whatever reason, which makes me not able to use Picmonkey.}
These cards took a matter of 5 minutes, but made Bray squeal the entire time, which makes it SO fun in my book. It also showed me just how big he is getting. I told him exactly what I was going to do {smash his hand in the paint and then press it to each card} and he let me do it all without even attempting to smash his hand on me, or the table, or dogs;)
I of course let him have some fun with a paint brush once all the cards had a handprint, and you better believe each envelope is covered in crayon marks:) The inside of the card says “Friends like us go hand in hand”. So stinkin cute to send these out to some of his buddies and the grandparents.
Moral of the story: yes a well crafted, thought out card could have been cuter. But, would it mean more to the recipients? Probably not. He had fun, I had fun seeing him experience it {and listen so dang well!}, and some friends and family will get sweet little Valentines Day cards. Win-win situation in my book! Happy Friday loves, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

Thanks for the cute idea, I always look forward to seeing what you come up with! And any mom with a clean house, happy kids, and good hair is very suspicious to me! ; )

I love this idea. I often wonder what my 13 month old girl understands when I tell her something. Most of the time she know exactly what I tell her. I think we may try this same idea this weekend.

Shannon, I honestly feel like they understand WAY more than we think they do! I have always talked to Bray like he understood it all, even when he was a little baby. I think it helps them, and makes us not feel like we are going crazy but not having a conversation all day till the hubby gets home;)
