Dream Book Design

Napa Vacation

First off, thank you so much to everyone who commented and emailed with tips for keeping Honey out of the flower bed! Even if I didn’t respond- I wrote it down, and man do I have a list of options..thanks so much! I appreciate y’all taking the time out of your day to respond.. and I think i’ll be trying a lot of the tips ASAP. Can’t wait to plant her poop-haha. On a prettier note..Napa.

Napa, oohhh Napa how we love you! Neither of us had ever been before this trip, and it was so beautiful and amazing. J isn’t even a big wine person and he had a blast! Now, granted, we did do Napa a little differently than some. Im assuming that some people do on average 4-5 wineries a day, and his limit was 2-3. The scenery, the wine, the food- OMG the food, everything was just perfect. We stayed at a BEAUTIFUL hotel called Avia, in downtown Napa. The hotel had the best decorating job I had seen in awhile. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the explaining…

Our room:

Yes, I am totally that lame person that gets UBER excited about nice bathrooms, and then takes a pic of myself in said nice bathroom!
This is the outside area on the second floor of the hotel. Such a nice area to sit out at night and un-wind from the day.

This is the restaurant. I absolutely loved the feel of this place, too bad we didn’t get a chance to eat at it!

At our first winery, Peju.
This was one of the prettiest wineries we saw on the trip: Rutherford Hill.

We did a tour of two wineries, one being Rutherford Hill. Tours for us were great, just didn’t feel the need to do more than a tasting at every winery.

I loved seeing the miles upon miles of vineyards.
One of my most favorite things that we did in the two days we were there, was a picnic. We found a winery {i’m terrible and can’t remember the name now} that had totally reasonable priced bottles, and a great outside picnic area. We had picked up the cheeses, meats, bread, and fruit from the Oxbow Market, Fatted Calf, and a local bakery. Everything about that afternoon picnic was like heaven on earth for me.

And because I love y’all so much, I am going to show you the BEST cheese IN THE WORLD. No joke. We got it at the Oxbow, and the lady there said that people wait six months for this cheese to come in, and it sells out almost immediately. Ummm, we understood why once we ate the whole thing in one sitting.

makes my mouth water just looking at it

The other tour we did was of Del Dotto caves in Napa. Such a fun tour, with amazing wine. What was so rad about this tour was that all the wine was poured straight from the barrels. If you ever didn’t like the wine you were tasting, they encouraged you to simply splash it on the walls of the cave. Let’s be honest here, I did not splash one drop of that amazing wine. It was WAY too good to waste!

inside the caves.

Thats it for Napa. We strongly suggest the two tours we did: Rutherford Hill and Del Dotto Caves. We also strongly suggest our hotel, Avia. Next time we do the wine country, I think we might try Sonoma. We kept on hearing over and over that Sonoma wines are the best Pinot Noirs and buttery Chardonnays, and those are two of our most favorite! Any things that y’all have done in Napa that you think are MUSTs?!? Please share!
Happy Friday!!

NAPA = amazing! Glad you guys had fun. Napa is only 50 mins from us and we have family there, so we try to visit often!

Hi … just found your blog through a mutual friend’s facebook. small world. anyway- I love all of your guys’ ideas. But, Sonoma County is sooo fabulous. Have never been to Napa, but we go with friends from SF and they always prefer Sonoma over Napa. This summer ( in June, as well) we went to a little town called Guerneville, which is almost like a little Flagstaff, but with amazing mom & pop wineries. Seriously, one of the best weekends I have ever had 🙂
