New House Update

There is so much progress happening on the house, it’s amazing!!! Here are a few sneak peeks of some of my favorite things happening.
Here is Brays room. J had quite the fun time painting his built-ins, they are stubborn to say the least. We will do a full tutorial on how to make painting stubborn wood a little bit easier in the future. It was safe to say that painting the built-ins nearly defeated J, and we both thought about finding an interior painting company such as Precision Paint towards the end, but we’re glad we got it finished! We are still changing out the hardware on these, and obviously putting the closet doors back on, but I am just in love with the ‘changing table’ counter.

Floors are now almost all the way in. The stairs and our bedroom still need to be finished, but all of the downstairs is DONE. And guess what, they are freaking stunning!!! Now what’s pending is our roofing. We should probably start looking for roofing contractors (like the ones at Walker Roofing) to get it done well.

Our cabinets are getting installed today, and then countertops hopefully will follow 7-10 days after that. We are looking to move in the beginning of February! I am giddy just thinking of living in our home. Even though owning a home is expensive, it’s exciting to know that this property belongs to us. Despite the house coming together now, there are still so many things we need to do before we move in. One of the biggest things we need to consider is our energy provider. We need to make sure we find the best provider with the best prices. Energy is obviously an essential utility, so it’s important that we find the best price. We’ve heard that it might be a good idea to visit some different energy comparison websites to make sure that we do find the best offer. Things like that still need to be sorted before we move in, but the house is slowly getting there! It’s been very weird owning a home, working on it, and not living in it for a full two months. We have loved the time spent at Js parents, it has been a big blessing, but we are so excited about all the projects awaiting us. Thanks for being patient with us in slowly disclosing more and more details.

Looks great! What type of flooring did you put in? Real hardwood, engineered? We are trying to decide between laying real hardwood or the tile that looks like wood…

Its Maverick Hickory and its engineered. We got it at Tom Duffy’s. we liked the idea if the wood looking tile, but I hate the feeling of the cold tile, and love the warmth of wood-so we went with wood. Good luck on your decision, you can’t go wrong since both are beautiful
