New Windows..Kinda

I was so excited for this post because it was supposed to show off our glorious new windows. We had new windows installed yesterday in our office, nursery, and master bedroom. We need new windows throughout the whole house but didn’t want to have to cough up that much cash, and we thought we would have to replace all of the trim work around the windows. Although, in the future, I think that might be in the plans, but perhaps going with a different company that offer the same services as Siding & Windows Group for example, for the trims and one or two windows. So, we just did the main rooms that were pretty affected by the weather, AKA if its summer out, it is automatically 10 degrees hotter in the nursery than any other room. We had considered double hung windows like these that a friend had done – https://leihomeenhancements.com/replacement-windows/columbus/double-hung-windows/. Being able to open the window in two positions would allow for optimal airflow in the hot Summer months. Investing in new windows (from a company that offers residential replacement windows) and coverings is a great way to make your home more soundproof. Looking for more ways to improve soundproofing in your property? Check out this fantastic guide from soundproofexpert for everything you need to know.

A few good things happened with the installation:

  1. The new windows look beautiful. And they are completely soundproof. I seriously didn’t know a window could make me so happy
  2. They ended up not having to even touch the trim work, THANK GOD! So all that needs to be touched up by us is a little white paint on the base.
  3. They did a great job with the caulking and sealing. I always get nervous that guys will just kinda slop some caulk on there and call it a day, but they did it beautifully
A few bad things happened with the installation:
  1. I had to wake up at 7:30 for them to be here…it sucked. Haha, this obviously isn’t actually bad, but it did suck {yes I am a princess- at least until this baby gets here}
  2. They totally broke the master bedrooms window. As in glass shattered..everywhere.
  3. My house has a beautiful layer of dust covering it. I swear no matter how much you tarp off areas it still seeps in everywhere {not their fault, just a crappy side effect}
Here is the not so pretty window in the master bedroom currently:

Thankfully it is soundproof double pane glass, and the piece that is broken is the one outside! And they said they will be here ASAP to replace it. They were really kind about it and apologized, so were not upset at all, it just sucks. On a happy note, we had them save all of our old windows that came out {the ones from 1952, single pane, but double pain in my butt}. We are thinking of some fun project to use them in since we want to keep them for history and fun sakes.

Also, I can’t believe I didn’t post something yesterday about this, but yesterday was our little stinky Boomers birthday! This little guy is TWO now, and I cannot believe it. I can’t wait to see just how amazing he is going to be with the babe once hes here. Hes a total lover in general, but especially with kids:)

Well thats all for today friends. I will hopefully have some better {as in, windows without shards of glass poking out} photos for you soon of our windows! I can’t believe I have some windows with screens now..its like were getting all fancy over here or something;)

    RUAD- cant wait to show you the new windows once this one gets fixed. They are heavenly to have! I will admit, on mornings that I dont have anything going on {whether it be one of my days off, or a day i work in the afternoon} I will totally sleep till 10. I used to get up at 830ish, but now just knowing that my sleep-in days are coming to an end, I am taking advantage of them!
    Allestra- I will for sure check out some of those projects, thank you! And no puppy cake for him, I give him something he wants even more- eggs. Haha. Every morning when I make my eggs I give them a little bite, but on his bday I made him his very own egg. He about died and went to heaven
    Fleur- I have had the windows wide open every second possible since putting them in! And just checked out your blog, its so great!
    Bretta-give your little Millie a smooch from Boomer and Honey:):)
    <3,
