A few weeks back we tackled one of the scariest hurdles in being a parent…that’s right, potty training!
I always thought Braylen would potty train super early because he was cloth diapered, and ‘they’ say that that encourages early training success. While that wasn’t our experience, I do believe that it did help a little. He knew the wet sensation more than a kid thats only worn disposables, and he knew how to hold it longer than normal because of the amount of times I would let him ‘air-out’. I was so nervous to begin this journey, so I didn’t know when to start! We ended up waiting until he finally said yes to us asking him if he wanted to try and go pee on the potty. We had gotten a kid potty probably two months prior just so he could get used to seeing it, but he was never interested in actually using it- till one day!

I also stocked up on some necessary cleaning supplies, as I knew his bathroom would never be as clean again! I am always a lover of using all natural products, but when it comes to things like the potty {and sometimes tub}, give me the real stuff! We are lovers of up&up’s line in general, and in this case, of the All Purpose cleaner and the Disinfecting Wipes.

I also made the decision to ignore her advice on no diapers overnight. Bray sleeps 12 hours and I am waking up in the middle of the night with Winston as it is, so I did not want to have another thing causing me to get up. I also definitely don’t feel comfortable with Bray using the bathroom on his own at night, so I just decided to stick with diapers overnight. And you know what- I honestly think it’s been totally fine and not confusing at all to him. He does do his naps in undies though:) The first day he had two pee accidents, one being during the day, one during his nap {which I knew would happen}. He was having a ton of fun wearing the undies, getting treats, and feeling like such a big boy. It was actually funny because he drank a full Camelback kid’s water bottle, two juice boxes, and even more water based fruit, and still wouldn’t pee for like 5 hours! I thought his bladder was going to burst, but eventually he got over the stage fright and went! The second day, no accidents except for peeing a little during his nap! I seriously couldn’t believe that not only did he not completely saturate his bed, but that it was only a little pee! This stuff was actually working!
Third day, no accidents whatsoever!! Stayed totally dry during his nap {his naps are always 2-3 hours!} and even woke up in the morning with a fairly dry diaper. So now, the training is technically over. Even though I am solely supposed to listen to him for when he should go pee, I still for sure ‘make’ him go even when he says he doesn’t have to- and sure enough he goes. One weird and SUPER sucky thing thats happened after the three days were over is pooping. He was doing great in the beginning, and then something changed. Not sure what or why, but now he hates pooping in the potty. He’s only done it a few times well, the rest has mainly been in his overnight diaper, or worse- in his freaking undies. Let me tell you just how fun that is to clean out!
My method for cleaning up the crap {literally} is to toss the clothes in the sink, and toss the poop in the toilet. It always manages to go everywhere so I have to clean the toilet after with the disinfectant wipes. Those things are magical in the sense that they kill 99.9% of bacteria in 15 SECONDS {just like the Clorox wipes, but way less expensive}! Love it! and then put Bray in the bath immediately. It’s like the crap seeps in to his skin more when in undies, so baths are necessary!
One of her big things though is to not even lay them down on the changing table again, so they don’t feel like a baby. This leads to needing the moist flushable wipes, and then tossing a semi clean boy in the tub. Now I don’t know about you, but nothing is more disgusting to me than a semi-poopy bath. Haha but seriously, that needs to be cleaned immediately-which is when the all-purpose spray comes in handy. This stuff is the golden ticket, it fights stains, deodorizes, and disinfects all in one!
So, final verdict on the 3 day potty training method? It does work. I am not sure how differently our situation would have been if I had truly cut out ALL diapers {overnights}, but I am still so happy. Yes, I wish the pooping in the undies never happened, or happens again, but I am still SO impressed. If you are wanting to try it out make sure you have the treats, undies, potties, and cleaning supplies ready to go:) And maybe a glass of wine or beer as your treat at the end of the day! And if you have any helpful advice on the poop- I am all ears:):) So tell me- what is one hard thing you have attempted to do lately? Was it successful or no? I kind of feel like I can conquer the world now after having potty trained Bray;)

I love the Up&Up Diapers and Wipes – super absorbent and soft on the newborn bum! Not to mention great prices for those of us going through 10+ diapers a day!!
I love Up & UP! I always buy the magic erasers and the dryer sheets. I always look to see if there is an up and up version of a product before I buy the name brand product!
Oh man! This post is making me very aware that I will have to potty train my almost 2 yr old soon. Glad I could get a refresher on it since its been a few yrs since I did it last. Not really looking forward to it, but maybe winning targets gift card will give me some incentive to buy the supplies we need to start! Thx!

I’ve tried a lot of Up&Up products and can honestly say I haven’t found one I haven’t liked. The most shocking thing of their’s I tried and liked was toilet paper! I’m a huge toilet paper snob and their’s is really great!
I like the Up & Up brand mouth wash and contact lens solution.

We love Up&Up diapers and I love their anti-dandruff shampoo. Really, though, that’s just the tip of the Up&Up iceberg in our house. We love their products.
Way to go with the potty training. I’m going to pin this post so I can refer back to it, when it’s time to potty train my little guy. I love the Up & Up disinfecting wipes as well. I also like their cotton balls.

The up and up diapers are my favorite brand. They have kept our son from blowing out his diapers. All the other brands never worked overnight.
Love the disinfectant wipes also!
I like the Up & Up unscented baby wipes.

My sister had the same problem when potty training my niece. She was doing fantastic for like a month, and then just decided she didn’t want to poop in the potty anymore. She’d actually go into the cabinet (where the overnight pull-ups were kept) and take off her underwear and put on a pull-up, poop, then go ask to be changed.
It was bizarre. But eventually she came back around. We think she just wasn’t quite ready for that part yet.
We love the pull ups for nite time!
I use Up&Up sandwich and snack bags every day to pack my husband and my lunches!
I love the up & up cleaners- just like the ones your featured! I’ve also used the dryer sheets. I try to buy that brand whenever I’m looking for a general item because the prices are so great.
My favorite up and up product at target would be the disinfecting wipes! I also like the paper towels. yarbr012 at gmail dot com.

My favorite up and up product is the all purpose cleaner with bleach.
I too buy the up & up toilet paper, it’s great!
I love the Up & Up toddler wipes.
I love the disinfecting wipes too! I have no advice for you on the poop situation. I attempted to potty train my son back in April. He did great…at home. Peed like a champ. After about four days I left him with my sister to do some errands and we had a major poop crisis. Poop on her walls and all. He’s back in diapers 🙁 I wimped out. Thanks for giving me the push I need to try it again.
Cleaning out my closest is the hardest!!
We use a ton of Up & Up products but I love their q-tips.
It’s DEFINITELY the wipes. I try to be as eco friendly as possible, using rags to clean most things, but some things are just TOO GROSS – that’s where the wipes come in!
I like the up & up stippling brush and the up & up powder brush.

I’m a big fan of their toilet paper! It is just as soft and tough as the nation brands, but not nearly as expensive.
Paper towels and diapers for sure!
I like getting the Target Up & Up diapers for my two sons. Great job with the potty training. We are potty training my older son, can’t wait to have only one in diapers!

My 19 month old daughter has starting potty training or as she calls it “Do-do in potty” I’m not sure that she’s ready for this yet, because she doesn’t always go to potty when she needs to go. But I’m ready to try and get rid of diapers!! 🙂
Our favorite Up & Up item is the diapers and baby wipes. They are wonderful and the price is right!!
Past the potty training but still love their disinfecting wipes

If the Up&Up brand is available for a product I always get that instead of the brand name. I have yet to be disappointed!
In a post about potty training- I have to admit that I love the target brand diapers. I have also been very pleased with all of their cleaning supplies!
I use Up&Up soap in every bathroom and the kitchen. 🙂
UP and UP over the counter medications like acetaminophen.
I have not yet tried an UP & UP product, but I would like to try the disinfectant wipes first. By the way….best selfie ever (nose plug).
Target is a serious addiction…. 🙂
I could always use a gift card to Target! I’ve never been disappointed with their products! I personally like their trail mixes for snacking and their mint choc ice cream is my fav 🙂 far from a cleaning supplies but my favorite of the target branded items 🙂

I love the mouth rinse. We’ve purchased it many times. I’m impressed with the potty progress – good for you!! I managed to get my daughter trained in one weekend when she was about 2 years old. It took us closer to 2.5 to get the overnight ritual down. Our biggest help was the supportive daycare – usually, they prefer diapers and impede the process!
I like their glass cleaner!
We really like the Make a Size Paper Towels….so much less waste!

I am attempting to potty train my almost two year old also.
So many favorites, but one I always remember to buy is the water filtration pitcher filters. Up & Up works just as well and priced a lot lower.
Up and up’s prenatals are the best! Affordable and not too big plus no weird taste! They’re the only ones I can take when prego, they’re great.
I have tried Up & Up toilet paper and paper towels. I plan to try other Up & Up products

We are in the midst of potting training also. I am really liking the Up & Up pull ups. One thing I have overcame and accomplished lately is a new job. The computer work was so confusing and in such depth I thought my head would explode, but I made it and I still have a job. LOL! Thanks for the opportunity to enter.
