Project For The Weekend

This weekend J and I are for sure going to get a project done. Now which project it will be, that is undetermined. We have been so busy, tired, and running on empty lately that projects have fallen out of the picture. Bummer for us, and bummer for you guys. Now here is our dilemma. There is a project that we really want to do, that I don’t even think it will take us that long, and there is a project that we really don’t want to do, that will take us a solid day.

We told ourselves that when it came time in Fall where our grass gets cut down to next to nothing, that is when we will re-paint our white picket fence, which has turned in to more of a off-white, chipped all over, type of fence. We think that we will have to sand down each post and then do a few layers of paint. Not one second of this sounds fun to either of us, unless it is that last second before we are finished and we magically have a beautiful white fence again. That second sounds pretty good! We know this project needs to be done, but we just don’t wanna. Yes, do insert whiny/cry baby voice for that sentence;)

The other project which will be a lot more fun, also will be relatively fast, so will allow us time to relax this weekend as well. We are going to be doing some fun decorative painting to our file cabinet nightstands, using the Martha Stewart decorative paint kit from Home Depot.

So what would you do? Go with the fun, easy, and not entirely necessary project? Or, go with the totally necessary, not fun at all, whole day consuming project? I know it sounds easy, but think realistically..should we be responsible and rational, or fun and kinda lazy?!

Happy freaking Friday friends!

What a quandry – been there many times myself… BUT! I vote for getting the dreaded fence done. You’ll likely enjoy the quick and easy project weekend better not having that gray cloud shadowing you. …AND have the extra bonus of smugly looking at your fence, that you’ve now shushed up from yelling at you. Blessings on whichever you chose. Enjoy seeing your projects!

I too think that doing what you dread and getting it over with is a good idea! I was introduced to your blog by Rhoda at Southern Hospitality. Love all your great decorating ideas!

I’m kind of a get it done now kind of person, so I would probably do the one I least want to do first. Especially if you have good weather for it this weekend. Then you wont have it hanging over your head still & you’ll be able to devote your focus to the fun stuff without feeling guilty!

I think I’d do the easy one but yet again if you did the fence it would be over with:)

As a husband and wife team that just finished sanding and restaining the three tiered deck we inherited with our new home – repaint the fence. Let’s be honest here – it’s not fun! There is no instant gratification (the deck tok us two summers)! Turn on some tunes, take a break for pizza and drinks, enjoy the good weather, understand that what you are doing is just plain work and get er done! Good Luck! Been there, done this – but you will be so happy the fence is DONE. And it WILL look fabulous!

lol…….we are kinda in the same boat. This is our first weekend in ages that we are actually both gonna be home and we are dying to get some things accomplished. Our not fun jobs are to paint the trim on our barn and shed and my hubby needs to do some plumbing work in the basement. In reality what I want to do is finish our trim work in the dining room and hang our new chandelier! 🙂

I’m the kind of person that has to do the worst project first, or I know it will NEVER get done. I vote for painting the fence.
