This past weekend Bray and I were outside 90% of the time. It has been so beautiful out {sorry for all of you stuck in snow still- thats just crazy!} so we just laid around, played, and practiced walking with our little red wagon all weekend long.
Our backyard needs a ton of work to make it perfect and we’re already looking into companies like Green Valley Turf to install some nice, fresh grass. There’s a half wall that needs to be taken out as it’s in the way and just plain ugly. Like I said before, the grass needs A LOT of sprucing up and it’s so high maintenance. Sometimes I wish we could just get rid of it and replace it with artificial grass. I hear you can get recycled turf anyway nowadays, and sometimes I see houses with such stunningly realistic artificial grass that I have to do a double-take. But, I don’t think it’s the right option for us and will just use sod to improve our garden’s appearance.
The trees at the back are also in need of some serious trimming, if not removal. I have seen that you can get a Tree Removal in Kennesaw which is pretty nifty. Saves us going up a big ladder and potentially hurting ourselves trying to get rid of the ugly trees at the back. But, with all the being said- it does have some incredible things going for it. We have two grapefruit trees, one kumquat, one mexican lime, one meyer lemon, one regular lemon, a grape-vine, two fig, one red plum, and a huge avocado and pecan tree. Thats a lot of trees and I am thrilled about all of them!
My mom and I did a lot of harvesting this weekend to get all the goods for us. With the amount of trees we have, we really should start looking into pruning services – what is air pruning? I’d love to learn more about it because it could be truly beneficial to our yard.
Anyone want to take a wild guess at how freaking sticky my entire kitchen was after this?!
We gave Bray his first bite of grapefruit, he loved it! Then again, this fat kid loves literally everything I give him.
I the end, we juiced three pitchers and 9 large ziploc bags full of juice. I think we are set on juice for quite awhile!
So tell me, do you guys have trees, gardens, chickens in your backyard? I desperately want a garden, and chickens, and maybe a bee hive far far away so I can have honey. I pretty much would like a farm:)

I am so jealous of the fruit trees. My parents just bought 60 acres near us and I am excited to get some fruit trees and a garden planted once this Missouri snow melts. Not sure we can have citrus trees in MO, but maybe some apples would be nice.

My husband and I have a garden and four silkie chickens. There is nothing quite like a silkie chicken. My chickens run to me when I go outside and love to be cuddled. The eggs are small, but we always have enough. I don’t know how all breeds do in hot weather though, so you may want to research that first. Good luck.
