Matchmaker matchmaker make me a match….
I am beyond excited that a couple my sister and I set up on a blind date, got engaged yesterday!!! I have tried playing the matchmaker many a times, but this is the first time of it ending up in soon to be marriage!!!! Needless to say, I am beyond excited:) Wouldn’t it have been great if they had looked up something like “engagement photos Rhode Island“, found a decent photographer, and taken pictures of those magical moments! They could have cherished it for a lifetime! Their engagement got me thinking about weddings today and how great they can be.
Every couple goes through a hundred feelings and emotions, even months before the wedding. Especially the jittery excitement when they start preparing for everything-from learning ring sizing tips to fashion a perfect-fit wedding band, to looking up venue options and curating elegant invitations for the guests; it’s a very exciting time all in all. On the wedding day, the beautiful decorations, being surrounded by loved ones, and seeing your vision come to life is an unexplainable feeling. On the flip side, I have always hated how much money goes in to that one night, the work into those 100 wire hung mason jars, those beautiful burlap centerpieces, etc.
Don’t get me wrong, if people have the money for it then good for them! They need to make it memorable and have it just the way that they want it, color scheme and all! They may want to have all of this captured on film with professionals like Liam Smith Photography or if they want an in-motion feel they have their friends and family take their own photos and use that as a ‘snapshot’ of the day, so they have a physical memory for life, but for some it can be really hard to get the funds together for their special day so will turn to other ways they can supplement this and still have the wedding that they want but without the price tag that they could spend on things really important to them when they are saying their vows in front of their loved ones.
I stumbled upon an awesome site today that is pretty much a craigslist for weddings. You can list stuff of yours to sell, find amazing things at great prices for up coming weddings, and heck- you could even use some of the items for showers (bridal, baby, whatever). I thought it was such a great idea that I had to share! Here are some examples of things for sale:
Kraft Table Numbers |
Vintage Pepsi Crate and Soda Pop Bottles |

What a great idea! I know we have a ton of leftover stuff (sparklers, centerpiece vases, etc) from our wedding and this is perfect for getting rid of your wedding things or how to save money on things you might need!
