You guys, I am so freaking excited about the hardware we got for the kitchen. We ended up going with beautiful chrome pulls from Restoration Hardware, and got the latches from Pulls Direct
We cannot wait to install these beauties and get on with it, but we ran in to a little interruption. The first night we were staying in the house I was giving Bray a bath in the kitchen sink, and naturally a little water splashed out. Just from a litttttlleee bit of water landing on the cabinets below the sink, the wood split and paint chipped. NOT OK. This is a kitchen that gets used, multiple times on a daily basis. I didn’t go with beautiful Marble counters because of that reason. So when this happened I immediately called the cabinet company we used and expressed our concerns. They came out, and took off all the doors/drawer fronts that had any issues {scratches, rubs, etc.} to them and they are back at the shop getting perfected again.
The cabinets are Oak Craft, which has a great reputation, and a great warranty, but I would be lying if I said that I am not a little nervous for how they will hold up. Anyway, we don’t have any of the beautiful hardware up let because this is what our kitchen currently looks like:
Whats that? You want to know just how much I love having all of my cleaning supplies wide open to my mobile little man??! Of course I do;)
I already use natural cleaning products about 80% of the time, but this instance alone makes me want that 80 to go to 100% really fast!
We are trying to stay positive and optimistic on this, because we are hoping this is just a one time fluke. Also, since the company stands behind their product so strongly that is always a good sign. We will keep you updated on this!

Wow! Love the hardware. That sucks about the cabinets I would be worried too. I’m sure they weren’t cheap. Good luck!

I would be really nervous about the durability of the cabinets. It is great that they stand behind their products, but it seems like a terrible inconvenience for this to happen more in the future.

Just splash a little water on every cabinet surface, see what happens, then wipe them down virorously with a good strong cleaner and see what happens. If there are any problems not to worry because the company stands behind their product and has a good warranty, and you will get it all sorted out now, in one fell swoop.
If things should start to go wrong in the future I am SURE you will document it on this blog . .a PUBLIC:) record with pictures for proof, and I am sure the company will want to fix that for you, even later on. Basically, no need to worry.

I have similar cabinet latches in my kitchen and I love them. They fit well with our vintage bungalow style.
