About two months ago I proposed a question to you lovely friends, whether we should DIY or simply buy a rug for under the kitchen sink. We got a ton of great feedback {thank you!!} and the majority vote was to buy. We found one on West Elm that we loved, and it was the perfect length runner! We ordered it right away, and figured we would receive it in the 7-10 day time period it told us. I was SO excited to post on it right away, since y’all helped us make the decision. Well, here we are two months later and finally have the rug {we actually got it about a month ago, so this is just me being scatter-brained about posting!} Once the 10 full days went by, and still no rug, we contacted West Elm and checked on the status. Apparently it hadn’t even been shipped yet, so they said they would get right on it and not charge us for the shipping, since at this point it was already 13 days after it was supposed to be here.
We waited another week, and still no rug! Checked the status again, and saw that it still had not been shipped. They appologized profusely, and said they had no idea why this kept happening {it wasn’t backordered or anything like that}. They said that they would give us a great discount, and have it shipped to us by a Tuesday. Well, Tuesday comes and goes..still no freaking rug! We contact them yet again and they apologize yet again. They finally realized that this was just insane and said they wouldn’t charge us anything for the rug, they would send us two rugs {just to make sure at least one got here!} and that we would have them within two days. The rugs arrived right on time, we made sure we liked it, and sent the extra back! All in all it took a little over a month for us to get the rug..but hey- it ended up being FREE!
We love having the rug there! The amount of water that I splash on a daily basis while doing dishes is ridiculous, so the rug is my woodfloors lifesaver! The dogs also love it, they love any soft surface in our house-which there are only a few other rugs. Overall, the process was ridiculous- but we are so happy! Hey, I don’t mind waiting a little over a month to get a free rug..go West Elm! Have you ever had an experience like this? Did the company take ownership and hook you up? I hope so!!

Wow! Totally worth the agony of waiting. I’m updating, well, actually buying rugs for the first time in my house. I recently ordered a kitchen rug and I’m loving the contrast it gives to my kitchen. My post today is about a new living room rug I bought yesterday. I went like 6 years in our house without a single rug, I thought they were just dirt catchers. Now, I want them everywhere.

I had a similar experience when ordering a Christmas gift from West Elm. I can’t remember exactly when it arrived but it ended up being about 3-4 weeks after I had placed my order and it was definitely not on my doorstep in time for Christmas. Unfortunately they did not take ownership or hook me up. Disappointing.
However, I am very happy that they took care of you. Your rug looks fantastic!
