This past weekend I hosted a Sip N See for my sister and my sweet little Nephew. A Sip N See is basically a baby shower, but scaled way down. We invited some of her closest friends and they all got to meet my nephew, eat great food, and enjoy a glass of yummy Peach sangria. While full blown baby showers are the best for a mom having her first baby, Sip N See’s are perfect for second baby’s!
I knew I wanted too keep the food and drink yummy but simple for the party. I also wanted to attempt to make it healthy while still pleasing the crowd. For some reason, that usually doesn’t seem to mesh well for me, I tend to think comfort food is all big groups of people want. Thankfully I was able to find two recipes and adapt them to make everyone happy! I made these yummy individual lasagna ‘cupcakes’ and they were a hit.
For the drink I made a Peach Sangria. Granted I couldn’t taste test it myself, I did have many ‘helpers’ ensure that it was awesome before the party started:) I had never made Sangria before, so I kind of just winged it instead of following an actual recipe. Thats the great thing about Sangria, you can’t really go wrong, as long as you have the basic elements in it. This recipe made enough to fill up a typical sized drink dispenser {got mine at Target, and I LOVE it, although heres a really cute similar one}:
Peach Sangria-
– 1.5 liter bottle of white wine {can really be any type of white}
-8 oz. Peach Schnapps
-1 1/2 2L of 7up TEN
-sliced fruit {this can be totally flexible as well. I used strawberries, oranges, green apples, and pineapple}
Thoroughly wash the fruit and slice it up. Start by filling up your drink dispenser {similar dispenser with a cute stand here} with the fruit:
Next in is the white wine, followed by the 7up TEN and the peach schnapps:
Once mixed all together let it cool in the fridge for around three hours. The longer it sits the better {we even used the leftovers for Brays 2nd Birthday party the next day}. This stuff is so simple to make, and by using the 7up TEN instead of normal soda, you are saving yourself a ton of calories {that can always be filled in by eating desserts later!} I don’t know how many of you are soda drinkers, but while I am pregnant I crave soda more than any other time! By getting this type of soda at Safeway, it makes me feel a little less bad about drinking it! And if you go to the Just For U website you can get a coupon for a free 2L of any of the TEN brand sodas {7Up, Sunkist, A&W, Canada Dry}. You can also check them out on Twitter and Facebook!
Overall the party was so fun! J and I truly love hosting things at our home and feel really blessed that we have such an awesome community of friends and family to do so for. I hope that we both always feel this way of opening up our home, and that we always have at least something to celebrate:)
Have you ever been to a Sip N See before? What are your thoughts in general on having any type of shower for baby #2..or 3,4,etc!

You are so sweet Jenn. I still try and do one every Monday, its just some campaigns that I accept require to be posted on Mondays. Dont worry though- they are not going away, as I enjoy putting them together too much to do so:) Some weeks they just might be on a Tuesday instead of Monday:)

I didn’t have a shower until boy #3. Nobody threw me one for the first two, it just never came up. There was 5 years between 2 & 3 & I had sold off a ton of stuff in the meantime. For boy #4 we had a gender reveal party, no shower.
I love the idea of a sip & see. And your sister doesn’t look like she just had a baby at all!

First off, congratulations on the baby. And on your 2yr old daughter. No matter what you have now, sound like you know it’s a boy, every mama needs a daughter. It took me almost 22 yrs to get mine (as we become friends I’ll tell you about it) , and I love my sons dearly, but I wanted a daughter from the minute I knew I was pregnant the first time almost 46 years ago! My baby girl is 23 now! And she’s been everything I wished and prayed for. Now, back to my comments. Sip and See’s are new to me but I think they’re a terrific idea! You always want to celebrate every baby whether it’s 2nd, 3rd, or 19th (like the popular show). A full fledged baby shower is usually unnecessary but a Sip and See is a super idea. Now, to my original reason for the comment: If I lived in your area and were in the market for a new home I would by this house in a New York minute! Your flip is wonderful! You did such a good job. And your style is much like mine. I, too, can’t get enough marble—my favourite is Carrera, a bit lighter than the one you chose. But your cabinets are spot on. And the subway tile is the only one I’d put in my own home. The only thing I’d change about the master bath would be to put a freestanding soaker tub in. Your finishes are superb. Although not a fan of mid-century modern ( I lived through it the first time!) , you made the home so it could be adapted to many styles. Well done! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your flips. Best of luck to you in your new venture , and with the new bairn. Make sure you give Bray lots of extra attention after the baby comes. She might feel a little left out. Make sure she knows she’s still your baby, too. She may revert to infant play for a little while just to make sure. It’s only temporary. Don’t go overboard on the “big girl” talk. She is, after all, still a baby. Now that I’ve given you some unsolicited advice, I’ll quit. But not before one more thing. The way you wrote about your flip was great. When I read it I could almost hear you talking about aloud. Another ‘Well done!’ lisa
