There is nothing more exciting to a design lover than finding a perfect vintage piece, thats still in incredible condition, that fits perfectly in your house. Thats how we felt when we got our vintage sofas for the Living Room from Modern Manor. They were beautiful and in perfect condition- which is just so rare for something that old and the fabric that it is.
We have had these sofas now for over a year, and to say the least- the dogs are doing their damage to them:( We used to let our dogs sleep with us in our bed, then we had Bray and that stopped. Then we used to let them sleep on our sofa, and then we got our new one and made it a rule to not allow them up on it {you know- when you finally buy a NICE piece of furniture- you want to baby it as much as you can!} So now, well now they sleep on the sofas in the Living Room. They aren’t necessarily dirty dogs, but they do shed a little. And even just a little shedding equals a LOT over time! I think it’s time that they start sleeping in their own beds. My hunt for a new bed that’ll match my existing furniture will begin with the dog bed buyer’s guide. When looking at the sofas you can totally see the darkness from their hair:
And whats worse is what happens when you sit on them:
They have made it pretty impossible to sit on the sofa wearing black without looking like a dog yourself! I vacuum it regularly but apparently that wasn’t enough, so I decided it was time to call in some professional help. I had heard about Zerorez for awhile now, and was always intrigued by it for the fact that they don’t use any chemicals while cleaning. From the moment I called them I was so impressed. Their customer service was unlike anything else. They also are incredible about giving you a small window of time as to when they will be there- which I so appreciate.
And then they came and saved the day. I knew it was going to be so good when I saw one of the first swipes turn out like this:
She did such an incredible job, and even got both sofas finished in under two hours. And once they completely dried, it was like they were brand {old} new again! Now of course, once the dogs got back on them they started to get a little dirty again, so I think next time I will opt in for the protectant that they can apply to the sofa. Not only that, but I’m also thinking about getting them dog beds from Bobby Bed so they can sit on that instead. It should help keep our sofas clean. I wish we had thought of this earlier. Oh well, you live and you learn;)
They really did though make them look amazing- and I love that it was all done without the use of harmful chemicals. Now if only I could have resolved to not let the dogs sleep up there anymore, then we would be all good. You should see the look our dogs give me when I try and show them something like a dog bed to sleep on- they think I’m insane! They don’t really go to sleep properly all that much anymore, and a friend of mine has kept telling me to look into a website like CBD Dog Health or elsewhere to see if CBD could change their behavior and sleeping habits around. Maybe I’ll have to start looking at different bed types to try and match how the sofa would feel for them? Maybe something like these tough dog bed options or something similar? I’ll have to have a look a proper look around so my canine friends no longer think I’m insane.
For all you locals in Arizona- Zerorez is offering an awesome offer for $129 for three rooms of carpet if you say Dream Book Design sent you. If we had any carpet, I would do that deal in a second. Until then, I will just have them back to now do the rugs and other furniture…and who knows- maybe the sofas again with a protectant this time;)
disclosure: I partnered with Zerorez for this post. The words and opinions are all my own!
