I put all sorts of stuff in them. Spinach, kale, carrots, beets, cucumber, celery, avocado, apples, citrus, pineapple, berries, bananas, chia seeds, flax seed, kefir, greek yogurt, etc. Now some smoothies taste better than others, but they all come out incredibly smooth which makes them great! I still get shocked every time when I just throw all the big chunks of stuff in and it comes out creamy and smooth!
The recipe book that comes with the machine is great too because it tells you in a ‘dummy’ version exactly what ingredients to put in first-last so that your end result is the best it can be. Now, some people have asked me how this one compares to the other models, and the only thing I can really say is that I know this one is a much better deal than the one that Costco sells on a day to day basis. It is only about $20 more but 2x a better machine. Also, if you are thinking about getting it at Bed Bath and Beyond because you can use the 20% off coupon, think again..they don’t accept it for Vitamix’s.
Overall, I am SOO happy I splurged and got this one. I know it will be around forever {it automatically comes with a 7 year warranty-that you can extend later if you want} and is going to become even more useful with having kid{s}! If you are contemplating it, GO FOR IT! And thank me later when you make the best smoothie, soup, or nut butter you have ever had:)

I love our Blendtec, but my parents had a Vitamix for years that I loved too. They’re both top of the line blenders. Smoothies and soups are two things that we make most with our Blendtec. Oh and making different flours too. It’s so fun to be able to blend up chickpeas and have flour. Or almonds, or brown rice. I wish everyone could have a Blendtec or Vitamix in their home.

I am so glad you posted this! I read your earlier post about the Vitamix when you first bought it, and I have been wanting to get one myself. I was hoping you would post your thoughts about it. Can’t wait to buy my own!

Great post. I’ve been trying to decide between a Blendtec or a Vitamix. Road shows are great but I can’t wait. I’m going direct.

I LOVE my Vitamix! My Mom had one during our childhood and we all talked about who would get hers. One Christmas, she surprised my 3 sisters and I with our very own. Yes, I know how lucky I am. 🙂
When I have extra smoothie, I dump it into the ice cube tray and use it later as “ice” for the next smoothie.
For those wondering, I know Whole Foods occasionally has shows and you can pick one up for similar good deal. I had the big container, and then bought a little one too.
I know I’m rambling a bit, but do you have the spatula that goes with? My cousin had one and I loved it, I’m waiting for the mailman to deliver it this week. It is narrow so that it fits between the blades.
