The ever so talented Layla from The Lettered Cottage had a fun idea to run a link up party next week on everyones ‘word of the year’. It makes you really think about what word you want your upcoming year to be inspired by, motivated by, etc. Its funny that this is the first year I am doing an exercise like this, and this is also the first year that I would have been able to come up with something so fast. My word for the year?
Balance.
With a new little babe coming in less than 5 months, an incredible hubby to love on always, a fantastic job of popping peoples pimples, family that is large and loving, friendships that require time to stay as beautifully flourished as they are now, and God who deserves my focus daily..I need to strive for balance.
I want to be the best at all of these roles. No, not the best compared to other people/moms/friends, but the best that I myself can be. I want to be a mother that is loving, patient, and wise. I want to be a wife who is supportive always, encouraging, and overwhelmingly loving. I want to be a hard worker at my job, after all, its not really my company I am working for everyday, as it is my God. I want to be the daughter/sister/aunt that everyone can count on, that makes every effort to make family feel loved and included. I want to be the best friend that I can to those in my life, always there for them, always ready to cry/laugh/talk it out. I want to be a daughter of Christ daily, to learn more daily about the God who I love dearly, to seek Him in all decisions and aspects of life.
I’m pretty sure that every year from here on out I will also be seeking balance, but maybe something also a little different. After all, i’ve heard that becoming a mommy changes your life in ways you can’t even imagine..and guess what- IM READY for that. I am ready to take on this year with balance. Bring it 2012!
What is your word of the year? Share in the comments, and be sure to link up to the party on Monday, January 16th over at TLC.
How funny! I only heard of the “one word” thing in December and spent that month praying about my word. It is LOVE! 🙂 I look forward to how God might realign my perspective on this topic.
Angy- thanks love:) Denise- I think it will be really fun for me, and you, to have a word to focus and pray on for the year. God can use it in crazy ways:)
