It seems crazy to think that when we started this journey of flipping homes, we had no idea how much we would love it. We started our very first flip right around the time we had Winston, and are now on our third one! It has truly been such a blessing.
I am so excited that you guys are wanting to see more and more about them, so from here on out I will be keeping you updated in real-time with weekly updates on Flip It Friday. This post is just a little bit back logged, so I will show you all the before’s and then a little shot of where we are at currently. Next week I will show the full demo stage and where we are at then. Things move seriously quick when flipping, so it will be fun to document the entire process.
This is the first flip that we have done that doesn’t have any sort of Mid-century Modern feel to it. It is in the heart of Arcadia, so it will definitely have a more traditional ranch-style feel to it. While it will be mainly traditional, we always love putting our own little spin on things, so don’t think for a second that you will know exactly what to expect;)
So without further ado, here is our third flip, named Slump Block Ranch.
The house had some pretty good bones to it. It definitely wasn’t a home that you walked in and were instantly disgusted by any means, but it definitely was in dire need of updates, and some rooms and walls shifted around.
The bathrooms were so incredibly outdated that they made me laugh. I can never take a bathroom seriously when it has carpet in it!!
And the kitchen needed a whole lot of TLC:
One feature of the homes Before that I actually love is the back yard. We are going to be cleaning it up a bit, and possibly changing some of the ground, but overall- I love the ‘ceiling’ to it:
And here is the state of the home as of the beginning of this week. We love us some good demo, and this home has it!
We partner with two different sets of people on flips, and this one we are doing with our friends John and Brynne. I love being able to see Jeremy in his element, doing something he is so passionate about. I mean, when we go out to eat, 9 times out of 10 he is moving over a cocktail napkin and drawing out plan ideas for me. Jeremy is the mastermind behind this home for sure.
Thats it for this weeks Flip It Friday. Can’t wait to update y’all again in a week! See you Monday for our first part of the new series!!

Very cool. Love the idea to show us weekly. I’m excited for the inspiration it may give me to be able to renovate a house in the future!

Wow,you are really serious about these rehabs. Not just putting lipstick on a pig! It’s great to rehabilitate old housing stock. Can’t wait for more details.

Thanks Adri! Very good to see this one. I think the nicest thing about these middle-aged houses is the lot size and the mature trees around. Also, the location tends to be pretty good in relation to whatever city they are near. Our last three houses have been built in the 70’s, all on oversized lots. My favorite, however, is our old beater 1906 house, but projects on the really old houses can be kinda of scary.
