The fact that it has taken us five months to show you guys the full nursery, and that were about to move, just cracks me up! Hey, at least we actually got it fully finished before we move out, right?! Anyway, I am so excited to finally show you his little room that we love..and I think he loves it too:)
To start, let me show y’all what we were working with. By no means was this room a mess, or need a ton of help, but we wanted to customize it a lot…so thats what we did:
How it looked in the process of smoothing out the textured walls. See how we did that here
|
Being pregnant and working away=looking not so fabulous;) |
Lets take a walk through the nursery now. This is what you see walking in the door:
Right around the corner, the spot where we spend a lot of time reading, snuggling, and him eating. We love the rocker:
I love his closet. It was originally a deeper than normal regular closet. We figured that while we were in this house, that this room would most likely always be a nursery {not realizing we were moving now instead of in 5-10 years!} so we knew we didn’t need a massive amount of hanging space. The transformation that J did was incredible. The drawers are a huge storage area for us, and the little cubby is the perfect spot for his shoes. Because there are two hanging bars it actually equals almost the same exact length as one long bar across the whole closet, so really we didn’t lose much hanging space at all! We were going to love having the bench for his little reading area, but now another kid will love it im sure:)
This is what you would see often if you lived here. Bray on his changing table, with me standing over him making him giggle to no end. Don’t worry, I was right outside the shot incase he didn’t want to stay still:

No the crib is not normally off center from the painting and rug. Hate when I miss little details like that! Oh well, such is life.Some detail shots {not done by Melissa, if you couldn’t tell;) } |
Thats the room, the first room we brought him home from the hospital in. Where we spent countless hours rocking, singing, and getting to know our precious baby boy. The room has already evolved since hes been here. We started by having a beautiful faux sheep skin rug in the nursery, but after 1 1/2 months of having it down it turned so brown from the dogs, and it shed everywhere. It was honestly like we owned 15 long haired dogs in the house. The reviews said that the rug didn’t shed much at all, so thats why we were so excited about it, but that wasn’t our case. Luckily, Home Decorators is an awesome company and they gave us a refund when we returned the rug, which they totally didn’t have to do. We are much happier with rug from West Elm, even if it doesn’t feel like walking on clouds. One piece in the room that we are totally in love with is the vintage brass balloon on the wall. We had seen it on Emily Henderson and loved it, and luckily found it on eBay! Here is a list of the sources of everything in the room:
Iron Crib– Craigslist.
Campaigner Dresser– Local Auction
Vintage Airplane Mobile– Planes from eBay, Vintage hat holder from Junk In The Trunk Market
Sunburst Mirror– Local Auction
Ship Painting- Local Auction
Rug- West Elm {which happens to be on sale right now-get it if you like it, because we love it!}
DIY Tripod Lamp– Tripod from eBay. Lamp shade on clearance at Marshalls, DIY covered in burlap
Wooden side table– base from Modern Manor, DIY wooden top
Vintage Pant Hangers– eBay
Vintage Brass Balloon Sculpture-eBay
Rocker– Local Auction recovered in a hide from Tandy Leather
Crib Skirt– DIY
Three gage plaque- Qucumberz
Compass wall hanging- Qucumberz
Metal book holders– Marshalls
Metal lamp shade in closet- Modern Manor
Blue paint color- Benjamin Moore Van Deusen Blue in flat
And now for the little man himself, because what is a photo shoot from your BFF Melissa Young, without some shots of the star himself?!

So, what do you guys think? Do you love it like we do?? I hope so, even though the only one that truly matters if they like it is Braylen {and i’ll just pretend that all his smiles that happen in there are because he loves his nursery so much!}
I added his nursery to some of my favorite link parties

I love this nursery. So thoughtful and well planned out. He could have evolved in there too. It isn’t overly baby which I like. The rocker may be my favorite thing. The baby. Sweet baby. What is not to love?

That is a really stunning nursery that I could see easily changing into an older child’s room and maybe even an office. I adore nautical themes/accents. Thank you for sharing your sources. Would you mind sharing a budget breakdown, or even an estimated overall budget?

Love, Love, Love your nursery! And I’m excited to find a great blog that’s local to me. I’m in Mesa. 🙂
If you EVER decide to sell that crib (maybe it won’t work in the new house 😉 ), let me know! My sister is pregnant (after two years of trying) and she is trying desperately to find an iron crib! She would LOVE this!
Good luck with the move!
